I got a question on the test wrong that shouldn't have been marked off. When I showed him that his notes clearly said the answer I had put, he refused to give me the points because "That's not what he said in class" Don't take the class! Unless you are already a horse expert because he assumes you are even though its an intro class.

Dr. Schurg is a very good professor in my opinion. He uses true/ false, fill in the blank, multiple choice testing methods and generally hints (big time) during lecture about what will be on the exam. He likes people to attend class to periodically he gives out extra credit for being there on time. He also is a fan of pop quizzes.

I took ANS 270 as well. I think he is a good quality prof. Class is going over ppts sent out, but go to class bc he provides extra info and quizzes. During exams ask questions, he is sometimes willing to give hints or other clues. Study hard for the first few tests as they will only get harder, not impossible but more in depth.

Bills class seemed easy at first but OH GOSH were the test hard, study study study. theres like no hw but LOTS of pop quizzes. I had a C in the class but took my final (which was impossible) and somehow ended up with a B. SHEAR LUCK! interesting class but could do without it. He responds very quickly to email and questions

Dr. Schurg was one of the worst professors I've had at UA. He doesn't have office hours, never replied to emails, and put questions on exams that he did not cover in class. The class was not very difficult, but I did not enjoy it. I would suggest taking it with a different professor.

Dr. Schurg genuinely wants his students to succeed. Sometimes the information can feel disjointed because he's got an odd teaching style, but that's easy to circumvent with a little extra time spent studying your notes. Go to class--random attendance quizzes can make or break your grade.

Dr. Schurg is a great teacher!! His lectures are easy to understand and his tests aren't too bad! If you study you will get a good grade in his class. I would definitely recommend this class to future students!!

Great teacher, but very hard exams that are graded strictly. Your grade is based on 3 exams and the final. He loves to use true/false questions, where one word or even a letter is misplaced, so watch out. This is more than just an intro to horse science.

This class is a hard class. Schurg is a good teacher, he's funny and tells a lot of stories but the tests are really hard and those are the only grades taken.

Comment:

Dr. Schurg's intro to horse science class is definitely more than an intro class and his tests are HARD, but he's a good teacher. I'm looking forward to taking more classes with him in the future.
