Comment:
Professor Dunnigan is a very nice and understanding professor. He chooses interesting books to read and beware of philosophical tangents during his lectures (I happen to enjoy them but I can see how some may not). He gives helpful feedback on every paper and always encourages students to attend his office hours or to email him if any qualms.

Professor Dunnigan is very passionate about his Introduction to Literature course. We read Frankenstein, V for Vendetta, and a Raisin in the Sun. I think there were a couple essays, of which it is very important to write about what you actually think and interpret, not just copy some analysis from the internet. Expect to read and participate a lot.

Great professor! Really turned your usual English class into something much deeper. Has made great accommodations and easy adjustment for the online format. Really interesting books/ topics discussed.

I took his summer class online and it was not great. His feedback was not clear and did not help towards improving my writing. All of the lectures discussed Philosophy and all assignments focused on writing.

I loved his class! His lectures were interesting and funny and we usually ended early. Really easy class as long as youre a good writer (I put an average amount of effort in and got an A). There were a few 3-4 page papers, a research paper, a final paper, and some other small writing assignments. The books he picks are good and easy to understand.

Mr. Dunnigan is so fantastic! He is a caring, witty teacher who respects his students and tries his best to have us engage. He is also very philosophical, has one thinking of the big questions in life. We do a lot of papers, so beware, but that's expected. You need to participate and come to class! Thank you, Prof. Dunnigan for a great semester!

He is an awesome professor hes relaxed and informal. As long as you read the supplemental readings the night before and the novel readings you can earn an A or a B (depending on how you write). His papers are easy and not long (about 2-3 pages). Take his class!

Dunnigan is a very friendly, relaxed, informal guy. Class was fun a lot of the time, and we got out early often. The grades are paper based - we'd have one big paper due while three others were to be written and due at the same time. The required readings are what's discussed in class, and you get a participation grade based on how often you spoke.

He either grades really easy, or I'm an amazing writer. A paper I got a B on in HS that I added to he gave me an A+! There are a few papers, each dealing with a different theme/book, but he picks good, interesting books for the semester. Really enjoyed his class, but do PARTICIPATE!

He respects every each student. His lectures are mixed with humor and useful background information. He makes you feel comfortable and enjoyable in class. There is alot of papers and books to read but the books were very interesting and he thoroughly explains the rubric for papers and gives it way ahead of time for you to prepare.

Prof Dunnigan is probably one of the best professors in the english department. Really engaging topics in class and a fair grader. However, one of the books required for class was used no more than 3 times and I paid 35$ for it. We weren't tested on it or anything it was just used for background knowledge.

Somehow got an A in this course, despite taking it in the summer before college. Thought this class was going to be easy, but the fact he drops a letter grade for missing 2 lectures is quite biased. Very tough essay grader. Cool professor but difficult topics.

Professor Dunnigan is hands down the best professor at UMBC! This is not your standard English class. He creates interesting discussions and chooses interesting novels. I recommend him to all my friends and would recommend him to everyone. BEST PROFESSOR!

Professor Dunnigan really knows what he is talking about. As an English major, I was very interested in the book discussions we had in class. Be sure to keep on top of the supplemental readings as they often make appearances on pop-quizzes and exams.

He is a very chill and laid back teacher but I don't understand how he grades his papers. I did more writing in this class then I did in my writing intensive class. Class participation is key. Pop quizzes here and there. Make sure you read bc he's gonna ask the most random questions. Keep up supplemental readings, thats the bulk of the exams.

Prof D was pretty chill, class was philosophy heavy. Gives decent feedback on papers, but vaguely graded. You can find all books online. Keep up on reading b/c he gives pop quizzes. Exams are heavily focused on the supplm readings. First 1.5 month was a repeat of ENGL100-fell behind on the syllabus, so last 3 weeks of class was exam, essay, essay.

He's pretty awesome. Felt lucky I got him for my first semester. As long as you speak up, even a little bit every class, your participation grade will be solid. Even if it's just word, at least he knows you're engaged with the class. The papers themselves aren't half bad either. Time consuming yeah, but it is college mate.
