He's really, really harsh. Especially going to an art school, he should understand that all of us have a crap ton of work to do and even if we can't study the material, he should be somewhat understanding. He thinks his class should be our #1 prority, so don't take his class if you're just taking his class for credits.

I took this class out of desperation, which he needs to be aware of. The first day of class he told us that if we had no interest in the subject of war, to drop the class, which I couldn't afford to do. You had to read a book every 2 weeks, and only get graded on 2 tests. Do NOT take his class if you are merely fulfilling a credit

Comment:

Class title and description was misleading; it's really about the politics of war. He connected everything back to Vietnam for no reason, and he is a very tough grader. If there are vets in your class, he will talk to them endlessly about their experience in war. Don't bother taking this class unless being bored appeals to you.

The material was interesting but he didn't seem to know it well and often was confused by it. He gave notes from a powerpoint that were disorganized and hard to understand. He taught nothing that I couldn't have learned just reading the books. His tests have unclear wording and he once argued rudely with a guest speaker assaulting her beliefs

Ethics- hes a knowledgable person and topics can be interesting at times, but had i known the entire course would be directed towards the war on iraq i would NOT have signed up. i cant say i learned anything new, he just brought up issues id rather not pay money to hear. and i still dont understand how you grade someone on their morals.

Historical Introduction to Philosophy class He's very knowledgable about the topic, but not great at teaching it. It's one thing to know a lot, but another thing to get people excited about it. I can't really complain about the class, but I left it less interested in the topic than when I came.
