This professor meant well, but his lectures were painfully boring. He has easy tests, so just show up and you should do well. However, I wouldve taken MUSIC 4 online in a heartbeat versus sit in his lectures. Be prepared for nap time

Comment:

Alverson was THE guy for taking History of Rock music, especially in summer. Clearly knows his rock history but also shares funny and random stories about growing up with the music. Worked straight forward from the book so easy to follow. Mostly quizzes and some papers due. All around chill dude and looks like Tom Hanks so that's badass.

Comment:

Alverson is an extremely laid back professor and hands out A's like it's nobody's business. Downfall is that he reads straight from the book but that just means you don't have to show up to class. His random tangents are far more interesting than the course material and make lectures tolerable. AlversonIf Tom Hanks smoked weed and played guitar.

It's a very easy class. Minimal studying will get you an A. Really interesting class though. He's an awesome guy that has tremendous knowledge about rock music. Highly recommended for non music majors with a slight interest in the subject.

Great teacher, way cool, loved his class and would be way down to take anything he teaches. He is extremely helpful, and is willing to help out if you don't understand, funny, interesting and laid back, probably the best teacher I've ever had, take his class.

Easy class. Take notes and he will emphasize things that will be on the tests. Wants you to succeed and learn about music production. Very laid back, chill guy. Loves music.

with music as my main focuz, i found this class to be very helpful in my growth as a musician as well as for my knowledge of the science of music. DJ is more then willing to go the extra mile to help. we stayed 2 hours after class one time to produce 2 of my bands songs. good class, good instructor.

Cool guy. Very helpful. Seems to know what he's talking about. Tests are difficult if you don't pay attention or read (they are all fill in the blanks and writting in definitions). I loved the class. Lots of hands on!
