Always understood if you needed extra time for an assignment and was always there if you needed a meeting. This class is very light on work and you will only end up writing 6-7 papers and doing around 5 assignments.

I overall liked this professor, but 3 hours with him is too much. He repeats himself a lot and talks the entire time. Never let us out early, and gave many essays. He doesn't care how long the essays are, he only cares about the material and how well you write it.

I took Professor Makinsters class on a Saturday and I very much enjoyed the course. He is lenient on due dates as long as you show the effort and he grades fairly. He is an intelligent, caring man that you really cant go wrong with in taking his class.

I took the Saturday 3 hour class. He gets off topic a lot, if he stayed on topic class would be over in 45 mins. One class he repeated his lecture from the week before. I do not feel like I learned anything from this class, video lectures have WAY more info. Easy grader, as long as you put effort in and answer the essay questions you will get an A.

Very knowledgeable professor. I liked the personal stories he told that related to the topic. Don't be late for class - it kind of bugs him, although he won't say anything to you about it. Do you like to read and write papers, then this is the class for you. He was lenient on the due dates and allowed passing in papers on the last day.

I took this on Saturdays for 3 hours. He gets off topic every 5 seconds and NEVER lets us out early. If he talked about the topic, wed be out in an hour. He doesnt care if youre late. Dont buy any of the books because you can use sparknotes. He always talks about his wife, Baby Metal, or his friends. Bring other work to do cuz youll be bored

BORING!!!! This was by far the worst class I've ever taken. It was a Saturday class and a complete waste of my time. Luckily, I never bought any of the "REQUIRED" texts. Attendance is not mandatory. However, there were SEVEN papers so be prepared to write... a lot! If possible, avoid this professor. In the end, I easily received an "A".

Makinster is the best professor I have had so far. Incredibly kind, understanding, and has a great sense of humor. He lectures almost the whole class, but never once did I find it boring or unbearable. He brings such enthusiasm and knowledge to the course! He grades you based on thought and effort, but his lectures give you the key to your essays.

Insightful and intriguing, if you enjoy classes that question humanities current state, you will love this class. Lots of essays, but everything can be turned in late, as long as you show effort. He is very understanding and kind. I didn't want the class to end! 10/10 would reccommend. Heavy lectures, but funny and relatable.

The class is very boring at times as he lectures for almost all of it, but you really don't need to pay attention or even show up half the time. Most essay answers can be found online. As long as you do the work and show up for a few classes, you should pass with an easy A/B+. He does make some very good points and seems super nice, somewhat funny.

He is really a great guy but tends to talk a bit much, where you are left wondering if you should write what he is saying. Most of the time he just likes to tell stories. Infamous line of Makinster, "I have a friend who..." He's really knowledgeable & the class is not hard per say.

Don't be misled by all the lazy kids writing bad reviews, Makinster is the man. His class is incredibly eye-opening, as he does a great job relating the courses material to topical events. He is also pretty flexible about what order/day you hand things in. If you want to think and learn, take this class.

Fantastic professor. Learned a whole lot from him. If you pay attention and don't doze off, you'll find his lectures very enlightening and informative. Very lenient on assignment due dates; if you need more time for an assignment he will not penalize you for it so long as it is handed in by the end of the semester.

BORING! He rants about things no one knows about, he goes off topic, repeats himself 100 times, tells jokes that no one gets and 3 hours is too much. But if you suffer through and take notes you don't need to read. He gives you the answers and it is so easy.

I know alot of people say he's boring, but if you take good notes and type them up for the papers, it's an easy A. Took him Sat mornings. He's great and laid back and full of stories that do have a point, just not always at the moment he tells them. I wish there were more courses I needed that he taught. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
