Comment:

Professor McCuan is my favorite teacher that I have ever had throughout all of school and the four colleges that I attended. Although his class can be challenging if you pay attention he works hard to make the material come alive, interesting and applicable for students. He was always available during office hours.

Comment:

I took a summer course with Mr. McCuan and it was actually the best class I have ever take. It was not easy by any means, but it was really fun. We only had a few grades; 1 midterm, 1 final, and a term paper. It is very note heavy. If you do not pay attention and/or take good notes you won't pass.

Comment:

McCuan makes it near impossible to succeed in his class. Tests are HARD & timed for very short periods of time, leaving you notime to analyze the question and propose a good answer. The 3 exams make up a whole 75% of the grade. so if you bomb an exam there is no hope. He doesnt care about his students success, just wants it to be easy on him.

Comment:

McCuan is an okay professor. However, dont ask him for help because you wont get anywhere. He is good about answering questions in class but not outside. Everything about McCuans class and teaching style as a whole is difficult. You have to spend a LOT of time on his class if you want to pass. Midterms are HARD.

The most unspecific teacher I've ever had. I took his hybrid POLS course. There were 5 in-person classes, and the rest was online. I'm a straight A student, I did all the reading, I wrote good essays, I always TRIED to clarify what each test and essay would be on. His syllabus was so unclear and he had no idea what was on his own tests. Irritating.

Professor McCuan is hard. But he cares. He crafts 302 in a way so you struggle just enough to learn the material well. He loves teaching that class and it shows. Take this class with him. Try and make sure your schedule isn't that hard when you take this course though, it can be overwheliming.

I took several of David's classes and he is nothing short of spectacular. He makes difficult material interesting, his enthusiasm is contagious, and goes above and beyond to be helpful. I was lucky that I got the opportunity to learn from him.

This is the Professor to take this class from. The curriculum is clearly his area of interest and I have learned a ridiculous amount this semester from him. His class is not easy, and attendance is a must for your success, but he is always there to help and support you on your path.

McCuan is by far the best professor I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. Take every course he teaches. I have never learned more, been more engaged, or enjoyed a class as much. His lectures are entertaining and highly advanced, and he is excellent with supporting students throughout the program. Wish every POLS class was a Dave class.

McCuan is a wonderful professor that aims at working with his students to achieve the maximum grade possible. Friendly, approachable, and most definitely one of the smartest professors at SSU. Made political statistics go from a course I had to take to one that I wanted to take. McCuan's goal is for everyone to do extremely well in his class.

I love Dr. McCuan. He is the reason I am still a poly sci student. He will do anything to help his students. He is the greatest teacher at SSU without a doubt, because he actually cares about his students OUTSIDE of the classroom. I love this guy!!!
