tough assignments, fairly easy exams. Doug is a great lecturer, he may confuse you a bit as he explains a lot more than you should know for the exam purpose. Just focus on his lecture and he does give participation bonus mark if you ask question in class.

Probably one of the best instructors I've ever had. He tells you exactly what will be on the exam you just have to pay attention as sometimes he gives you hints to what to study. Doesn't test anything out of limits, sticks to lectures and class work.

I dont think you could find a better teacher to teach intermediate accounting... doug has a very thorough explaination to every question you give him and he challenges you in lab to keep you thinking. He will show you not just one way to calculate goodwill, not two, but three! He seems mean at first, but he loves ya really. please teach advanced!

Doug is a really good teacher, but marks extremely hard. The good news is that both Doug and David mark together and this probably keeps most people from failing. This is one teacher who definteley wants you to reguritate the notes/text/cica hb. If you can try and memorize the theory. He is a super smart guy though, so try and learn from him.

He is boring, and did not teach anything that I could not have read on my own. His pace is slow. I feel I could learn more in 3 hours of reading a text than listening to him for 3 hours.

Doug fails to conceptualize a course. His approach is simply to regurgitate and as such failed terribly in the delivery of an important course. Simple anecdotes would go very far in illuminating his lectures but, unfortunately they are sorrily lacking

If you're looking for easy marks, Doug isn't the guy for you. He repeats things and teaches you more in the pratical way when you're actually doing it in your job more than just what the book says. He's very details too for those that like details and ask lots of 'why?'

he's no scott sinclair. those "optional" sessions were not optional... not if you wanted the marks on the exams. and doug, if you can't make the notes make sense, write your own instead of ripping them off the textbook's site.

he's funnie, a fair marker, very clear, & SO repetitive that you learn the stuff and it helps for exam. watch for hinters during all his lectures for exams. he makes his lectures fun (for those who listen) by saying wierd things. his nice skin and dimples make him nice to look at:)

Doug wasnt even my teacher, I had the other instructor, but a few of us sat in on all Doug's labs & lectures. He's awesome. Yeah he marks hard, but the level of knowledge and understanding you're gonna get, is incomparable to the other instructors teaching this course!

He is the best instructor in BCIT I have ever had.Although he alaways gives us hard exams, nobody complains because he teaches us everything, and he is such a devoted teacher that he always gives extra lectures and helps students after class.
