Dr. DeHope is amazing! She's enthusiastic about her classes and truly wants her students to leave class more knowledgable - What a professor should be! I highly recommend this class and professor. Look out for a good amount of reading, some writing journals, and a group project.

Truly one of the best professors! Tough subject matter but Dr DeHope creates a safe space to understand race and difference. She is a caring,inspirational teacher. This class and professor are so good- I highly recommend taking Dr DeHope!

Great, informational class. Wonderful professor. Should really be a mandatory class for everyone enrolled at WCU. Talked about a lot of uncomfortable topics in a non-threatening way and always made sure we understood before she moved on to something else. Great classroom atmosphere and not a hard grader.

I love this woman!! Talking about race can be really uncomfortable but she makes you feel so good about it. You know she really cares about her students and whether or not they learn, and enjoy it. You can take what you learn here and apply it anywhere. She will always be there to help you and she grades fairly easily.

I absolutely love this class!! I would definitely recommend any social work majors to take this course. If I could retake this course I would just for her to be my professor again. She's so full of life and she makes learning so fun.

Dr. DeHope is the bomb. She makes talking about tough topics like race and racism easy. The class is very discussion based and there's one group project, but she really makes you think. I learned so much about myself and my worldview from her class. I would absolutely recommend taking this class!

Loved Dr. DeHope. Very knowledgeable. She is full of interesting, useful info for SW majors. Makes a 3 hour seminar class seem shorter. If you pro LGBTQA you won't like her. Although, ALL SW classes are pro.

DeHope is the best!! I was never interested in social work until this class. She knows so much about the family and relationships that can help a lot of people. It is a great class for criminal justice majors. Her quizzes are online and she grades the papers easily as long as you understand and apply the concepts correctly. Take her classes!

hands down the BEST teacher i have EVER had! i actually considered changing my major just because she made me love social work that much. she is very clear and has an amazing sense of humor! she's a fair grader and respects every student. she lets you slide if you forgot about an assignment or two. i wish i could take another class with her!!
