Comment:
No, just no. If you can take PHARM 203 at windward with Cam Au, just skip this course at KCC entirely. Ottoson is supposed to act as course organizer which is funny because this course is anything but organized. She doesn't answer e-mails, no matter how important they may be. I found myself correcting her all semester, she seems disheveled.

Prof was our clinical intructor during COVID-19. 1st, she had a bad reputation with the hospital staff. 2nd, she was continuously COUGHING on the floor. She's very judgmental & instead of teaching, she would criticize you. A pet peeve was that she wouldn't let you finish speaking & would always cut you off. She's a nice lady, but not while teaching

Liz didn't teach, she's the coordinator. Class is taught by 4 diff pharmacists: Dr. Cecil Nakata, Meng Fei Lee, Cam Au, & Gayle Takanishi (will write separate reviews for each professor). There are 6 exams including the final. Each exam will have 2-3 lectures worth of material. The final is cumulative. There is EC opportunity, 5 pts from each prof.

Although Prof. Ottoson wasn't the one to lecture the class, however, this class was tought by an awesome four pharmacists. Definitely a hard class; the very beginning of first lecture I was totally discombulated on how to find an effectively studying stratigies which I found a way afterwards. Be prepared and be organized on all your notes.

The course was taught by 4 pharmacists and Ottoson was there for supervision, she didn't teach. She is a really nice lady if you are a responsible student that knows what you're doing. This is a serious college nursing course and you must know what study strategies work for you. She's a fair grader and in the end you get what you deserve.

The information is given to you but its a lot, this class is overwhelming and anxiety producing. Theres no homework or quizes, but for this subject I feel it would be beneficial. Usually 4-6 chapters in an exam.

awful. She doesnt teach the class, pharmacists do. exams are beyond hard and if you think ZOOL was hard, wait till this one. Expect to be studying a few hours everyday. I recommend taking it somewhere else.

There are more than 1 teacher so don't expect clear announcements. Lectures hold many information so you will be required to sacrifice sleep and LOTS OF time to get everything in your brain.

Seems nice in lectures. Sticks to the text and notes, mostly. Tries to answer questions, but sometimes didn't help clear things up. Exam questions are sometimes badly written or unclear. Heard clinicals are tough and stressful because she's impatient or unclear when communicating. For PHARM, go to another campus (but check profs on here first).

Unfortunatelty she is not the best to gain clinical experience. She has educated at her clincal site for the past 3 or 4 semesters and is still unfamiliar with all routine operations to the unit. She will perform the clinical skill instead of allowing the student to experience. Communication is not her forte and states things upon assumptions.

I don't have her as a teacher, she is in charge of my 203 class. But I'm extremely frustrated b/c I am having to struggle with her endlessly and she does not respond to ANY communication, no matter how much I tell her how important it is for my grade that she respond to me! Horribly irresponsible as someone who is in charge of students well-being.

Class is taught by 4 pharmacisits and is relatively easy. You WILL study ALOT. Come on, people for nursing, you must be able to adapt to different personalities. Pharmacists were nice and accomodating. This class was much easier than I was expecting and I took it during the summer on fast speed. You complainers need to reevaluate.

Worst teacher in the nursing school. She usually picks on one student in clinical. She is very insecure weak person! Try to avoid her if at all possible.

Not great! The two earlier posts are most accurate. The class is poorly organized and Liz Ottosan is never available via any form of communication. I think she is burned out on teaching.

Worst organized class I've ever taken @ KCC. Liz is notorious for not returning emails, phone calls, and has office hours by appointment only. Parm 203 is made much more difficult because 4 Parmacist teach the class. They all have varying difficulty of questions and different teaching styles. Problem is you have no other choice @ KCC. Be prepared!

Absolutely THE worst coordinator I have had in a college institution. Does NOT respond to email, phone calls, ANYTHING in a timely manner. Nor is she CLEAR on anything. Does not even have a clue what is going on in class because Pharmacists are teaching (she doesn't even come to the class). Class is POORLY structured and POORLY coordinated.

Liz is a very nice person, and a pretty good teacher. She cares very much about her students. This department has so many BAD teachers, that Liz is a breath of fresh air among a mostly stagnant department! Seriously consider another nursing school! Low tuition + only 2 years of schooling is worth it
