I was so excited coming into this class, but he basically drained all the fun out of it. To sum it up, he is a great Econ professor. Too bad this wasn't an Econ class He is a cool dude, but a very strange professor and very intimidating. Take this course at your own risk but honestly you're probably just wasting your time.

Reading material is compelling, sends relevant articles via email. Class structure was strange given nature of the course (global justice, inequality). Lectures from PPs when the class of 20 would benefit from guided discussion. Often condescending to the group as a whole, students are too intimidated to ask questions. Offensive comments sometimes

Reading material is compelling, always sends us relevant articles via email. Class structure is strange given then nature of the content (global justice, inequality). He lectures via PP when the class of 20 is better suited to a guided discussion. He can be condescending, many too intimidated to ask questions. Offensive comments sometimes.

As the professor usually says: "OPA OPA DENDI", Frank always unravelled that everything went according to plan. :)

Frank is one of the great professors at this school. He genuinely enjoys the material and makes a point to ensure everyone else is having a good time as well. Lectures are entertaining more than they are informative but that is kind of his point. In this class we were given a lot of freedom to focus on material that we personally found interesting.

Frank is a great professor. Felt really lucky to have taken his class. Gives a great survey of important developments in Economic contributions to Social Choice Theory and Political Thought. A great launching point for someone who has interest in studying Economic History or Philosophy at a graduate level.

Very knowledgeable Professor. Class is incredibly disorganized. Material can be very dry at points and he doesn't help. Interesting to talk to during office hours but the class was hard to sit through. Manageable class but difficult professor. Frank is cool though.

Literally worst class/professor ever. Incredibly conceited, demeaning, actually asked one girl how she got into U of M when she asked a question he thought was dumb. Did not explain things well, basically worst class ever. Not hard by any means though.

What he talked about in class was often completely unrelated to the reading/papers/tests, and the midterm and final consisted a lot of problems directly from the textbook (which we had solutions for). For an ULWR class, this class is surprisingly easy and not that much work.

Professor Thompson knows more about his subject than any other professor I have encountered. I found that going through the book material in class was rather dull, but Professor Thompson's personal incites and anecdotes were truly interesting.

Not very clear, a nice guy who is really smart, but has trouble "teaching" which is too bad, since he has a lot of interesting things to say

A very nice guy, but he doesn't know a f'n thing about organization. The subject material is interesting although you will have no clue what he's looking for when it comes to tests and papers.

Idiosyncratic, but easy class overall. Teaches straight from the book, so you can catch up if you "miss" a day in class.

This was by far the worst class I have ever taken in my life. It was cross listed as an RC course and Frank seemed to only care about RC students. He also went off on unrelated, usually offensive tangents. In his spare time he sent students emails that threatened failure in an attempt to create some kind of discussion. It was an awful class!

Frank was THE best professor I had at Michigan. His classes aren't always easy, but they are incredibly rewarding. He's funny, interesting, and is always willing to help students. He's an absolute master in his field of studies and I feel lucky to have experienced his teaching! Don't miss a class with him if you can help it.
