Super attendance/participation heavy. You get a 7.5 for the day if you show up and say nothing. All classes START with discussion & are based off about two hours of reading. Grades papers harder than any english teacher ive ever had.

Definitely prepare for lots of reading and graded group discussions every class. Good luck getting full points on group discussions, btw. They're 10 pts each, but she prides herself on rarely giving full points on things, so expect a solid 9.6/10 for group stuff for no reason. Very strict grading papers. Lectures are painful bc she just talks @ you

Very fast lecturer using a bullet style prompt, can be difficult to take notes on, but printable notes on Carmen help. Requires in-depth responses on tests and papers but is very fair in grading scale and offers plenty of points to compensate for tests and papers. Very gracious turn in policy. Participation is VERY necessary. Overall Great Prof.

Always willing to give feedback and help with research. She will not give out As, but they can be earned. Aside from being extremely knowledgeable and helpful, her courses teach discipline. It is too much for some, but extremely rewarding to those who desire to learn proper methodology. She was the best professor I ever had!

Tanner is an incredibly fast lecturer, and if you don't do your reading outside of class you will fail. I am a 4.0 student and Tanner's class was the hardest I have ever taken. She expects a lot out of you and will never give you full credit on your discussions no matter how hard you try. She has a midterm, a final, and a hefty research project.

Definitely a tough class (especially for a bio major), but Dr. Tanner keeps things interesting. She does grade discussions in class, and they are a major part of your grade, so be ready to talk. She's pretty clear in what she expects and is very helpful to students.

Heavy course work and papers are quite extensive. Regardless, I left the class having a clear understanding of the historical methodology.

Professor Tanner is a very nice person and keeps lectures energetic and humorous. The workload is heavy for a 100 level course and she grades tough. Exams are open book/note but they're still a challenge. Honestly, for the whole quarter I went back and forth between loving her and hating her. It's a tough class but overall I enjoyed it.

Very biased teacher. Not willing to help to comprehend the material during private meetings. Long lectures: fast, boring, hard to understand. She has a big vocabulary which gets in way. Most days class is divided into 1.5hrs of straight lectures and the other half is all graded group discussions. would not recommend this class to anyone.

Tanner was very snobby and offered little help. She was an elitist and found herself to be far superior to her students. She was at times downright disrespectful. Her lectures were boring and not helpful; she should have included more student interaction.

She talks fast, but has study guides to follow. Follow the study guide as she lectures and take notes on what she adds, and you should be fine. Don't be afraid to participate, because it is a big part of your grade.

She is tough with her papers you need to go see her a lot and ask if this is good or what to add. Ask lots of questions and deffinatly read the sourse material. Don't sit there like a bump on a log!!
