Comment:

Makes what is supposed to be an easy class an annoying one. Has students grade each other, which you then receive a grade based on how close your grading matches other people's gradings. Extremely unclear of what he wants from papers ect. Doesn't know what hes teaching,Cant answer questions. Docks marks for applying lectures to final paper.

Herb is a good guy but very unclear when it comes to directions and assessment of assignments. DOES NOT APPRECIATE YOUR VIEW OR OPINION WHEN ASKING QUESTIONS. Every question, even opinion based questions, have a right and wrong answer. If you try to answer a question in class you MUST answer exactly as Herb is looking for or he just says.... no.

He must be kidding me! The pretty easy midterms match with the most stupid and hardest final. And the practice exams are not helpful at all, why? cos the final dose not test the questions that show up in the practice exam. if u choose him, come on, u must be brave and humorous!

Worst professor ever. Hard to understand, doesn't speak clear. He goes from explaining the concept, and then dives into the code. Doesn't explain the code whatsoever, or anything. Midterms were really easy, the final was so unfair. 2/3 of the test was material he didn't mention in class. Worst professor for this course. Switch out if you have him.

Wasn't always the most helpful unlike guys at Grant Mac, but I came to his class and although lot of the programming wasn't easy, I would've liked that way

WORST prof I have ever had in University. This topic is out of my comfort zone but I had to take it to fulfill my BA requirements. When I went to Herb for help because I was struggling, he was defensive, rude and completely unhelpful. Professors like this need to be held more accountable.

First off, the worst professor I had during my time at U of A. He uses his own textbook which is full of errors. He expects you to learn or just "know" material not presented in his class or in his book. Wrote most of base code for the assignments and he obviously has never heard of Object Oriented Programming because he doesn't make use of it!

Fun class, and I think Dr. Yang is a good prof overall. He's a nice person, I like his lectures, and he clearly cares about students. On the other hand, he can be stubborn about silly disagreements, and refuses to provide relevant practice material for exams. He then tells students to work harder when the average ends up being below 50%.

Good prof for this course. Seriously just show up for class and the labs and take the notes he gives you. Exams are fair and marking is fair as well. Assignments can sometimes be tough but going to the lab help makes it a cakewalk. Good course for an elective or interested in this field.

I loved this teacher!! I finished with around 90%, which for me is EXTRMELY high. i did go to class every week, but didn?t take notes. for midterms, i studied from the online notes the night before and did fine. Just make sure to go to your labs, and do well on all your assignments, which if you ask your TA they will prob give you the answers.

For the amount of time I put into learning the material (not much), I got a pretty good mark-B+. His exams are super fair. He gives alot of info but really just need to know the basics. He was really respectful to students but went fast through some concepts. Also wastes alot of time while teaching on his computer from atrocious mistakes!

If you want to find out how distress center helps you, you should take a course with him and you will find out a lot about distress center. I have got the top mark in the class but sometimes I went to lab to do the assignments and lab assignments 11p.m.
