I am so impressed with Professor Ahern as a teacher and as a person. She strives to make our success more likely by constantly fine tuning every aspect of the course, except the level of material we must know to proceed to our next levels. She has juggled COVID uncertainties and always made sure we were well taken care off.

Comment:
Very difficult course to begin with, but helps to have a knowledgable professor teaching it - which Prof. Ahern is. One flaw I found with her is that this is her life's passion, and she has a tendency to assume this is everybody's passion as well. I feel that she is a bit too tough with test and lab practical questions. Very nice, kind, & caring.

What a gal. Professor Ahern is a gem. I really enjoyed her Micro class this semester. She gives wonderful, attention-grabbing lectures and provides students with good study material outside of class. Not a big fan of the microprobes having more than 1 answer... only complaint. Would 100% take a class with her again. Make use of lab assistants!

Ahern was awesome. She made lectures really fun and since I work at 430am before classes, staying awake can be very difficult sometimes. During lab she was super helpful and answered any questions you had but not without making you think first. This class was only difficult because of the tests. Never been a good test taker.

Professor Ahern gives you PowerPoint slides to look along with her. She's very clear and will go over everything that will be on the test, also gives study guides. The lab part of the class is very challenging but you can do it if you attend and put your best effort in. Lowest test grade will be dropped.

Took Microbiology over the summer with Professor Ahern. She is an AWESOME teacher and made a very hard subject attainable. Provides excellent study guides for the tests, study them and you will do well. Lab projects are easy if you pay attention. One paper, weekly worksheets four exams.

Took intro to Bio, She taught 3 Units, which were my worst units. The material is covered very briefly and her unit study sheets never match with the material taught in class. BE THANKFUL FOR IQS

She's pretty helpful outside the lecture as well as in it, although it doesn't seem like Bio 103 is one of her main focuses since the other professors who teach it do a lot more with us. Overall she's alright, and can answer most of your questions, but since IQS separates everyone with grading, she can't help if you want to know where you stand.
