I had calc 2 with him like 15 years ago. Still remember how great his lectures were. Very friendly. One of my most memorable teachers I had in a class of 250+.

If you do not think he is one of the best lecturers in the country, you are wrong. The class is extremely hard, though because he expects way more than any other professor

Amazing lecturer, even with the difficulty of the material. Knows how to explain things so you understand. Would recommend doing the homework even though it's not graded. Exams are tough and the entire makeup of your grade. (25/25/50)

Excellent teacher who really loves to teach and shows his passion for math. That said, his tests are quite a challenge but within reach if you really put the effort forth. Go to the discussions and do the homework(even though its not graded) and you should be able to get a decent grade.

Grate Prof. His lecture is helpful because he may use different methods other than the textbook's. The yellow sheets before test are EXTREMELY helpful, as long as you work through them and understand how to solve the problems on them, you will be fine.

Great teacher, terrible exams. 25-25-50 split: two midterms and a final. I've never had to study for math tests before this, and even after putting in a ridiculous amount of effort, I still only ended up with a C. Know the concepts, having equations will never be enough!

Hard class. Nice teacher. I'd recommend him. Much better than any other calc professors I've had here. Allows one 2-sided sheet of notes for each exam. Two midterms and one cummulative final. HW assigned 2x a week, only helps your grade. Quizzes in discussion also only helps, not hurts. Do the hw, go to discussions and lectures and you'll do fine.

Very difficult course. He expects you to know how to do the most complicated problems on his exams when he does easy examples in class. Not worth taking if you're not a math major. I don't recommend him

Very passionate about math, and shows it during lecture. His energy really makes it easy to focus on what he's saying. Very helpful and easy to understand during lecture, however make sure you understand the concepts and not just the procedures or you may regret it during exams.

It's rare that a professor gets as excited/passionate as this guy does. It's great. He's funny and full of character. Lectures were very well organized. Easy to take notes. Assigns very efficient homeworks (i.e. you don't repeat 30 of the same problem). First name is a secret.

Good professor, cared about what he taught a great deal. The only complaint I have about him is that he deals with proofs way too much and they are never on exams. Extremely difficult class, so I wasnt expecting it to be easy in first place. Exams are difficult, which is to be expected

I had prof Isaacs for first sem abstract algebra back in... I think it was '89, when he was a visiting prof at Berkeley. I loved his class. He is one of the best, period. He didn't use the book then, I see he still doesn't. No loss. Prob sets were full of flavor and delicious, really something to dig your new math teeth into.

Doing well in this class depends entirely on the intelligence level of the rest of the students in it. Decided two weeks before final that homework and quizzes would no longer factor into overall grade, very unfair grading although he is not a bad lecturer. He is passionate about what he does, and explains things well but I would avoid if possible

Overall a good professor. Can tell he is very passionate about the subject. Lecture attendance necessary. Do the homework, study, and review previous tests - basically do your work. Exams are not easy, but fair. Be sure to review examples from lecture.
