Professor Gold has definitely helped me to become a better English student then i was when I first began this course. At first I thought the grading was harsh but only later did I find out that because he wants me to become a better writer. I thank Professed Gold for that very much and recommend him to anybody who is looking to be a better writer.

Best described as Touro's mediocre book club, Prof Gold's Ancient Lit class can be a waste of time. He lectures shortly on the material, knowing no one actually reads it, and then discusses his political agenda for the rest of class. Show up, act interested, bs a paper and the final, and pray he likes you enough to give you the A. Good luck!

He is a hard grader, there's no two ways about it but he is fair. You have to put a good amount of time into each essay and write them well. Coming to every class is not really so necassary as long as you write the essays and give them in more or less on time. I came to a little more than half the classes. Always take the liberal side.

A hard but fair grader. Takes his essays right out of the NY Times so no book is required. Always take the liberal view, write very well, and come to class and show some interest and you'll get an A.

They say he doesn't give A's. Well, the grades are in, and it looks like he does. You just have to deserve it. Liberal? Yeah, so what? The most important skill you'll ever learn for the workplace is how to tell people what they already believe and pad their egos. So if you don't agree with him, shut your mouth, write a good paper, and you'll be OK.

Great teacher. Try to avoid controversial subjects and don't pad up your essays with garbage writing. I got two Bs on my first two essays and still managed an A- after putting in alot of time and effort.

You wont learn anything about writing in his class. All he seems to do is rant about politics. If you want to pass all you need to do is write something derogatory about the Republican party, and NEVER diss anything in the NY Times. A waste of time avoid at all costs.

1) You will not learn a thing about English from him. 2)What you write about is way more important than how you write it. I once made the mistake to write on a Jewish topic - never again!

After writing a "pro-war" paper, to which I recieved a "C", I wrote an "anti-war" paper--off inferior quality--to which I recieved a "B+". That's my advice: Tell him what he wants to hear, even if you don't like saying it.

Credit where credit is due: he knows English. But the man is a hardass liberal. If you disagree with him politicaly, the guy will do EVERYTHING(including, mockery, constant interruption, threats to fail a student)to discredit anybody who opposes his view.
