The class wasnt too difficult if you go to every class. Dr. Matthews was a great professor and Im glad I chose her class. She is interesting and knowledgeable. We watched some films, too.

Comment:

You show up watch a movie and write an essay over it. Theres 4 essays. You cant get out of it. Its an English class. She has extra credit opportunities and shes very willing to help. Listen to her notes when she grades your papers and youll be fine for the rest. If youre unhappy you can ask and she gives opportunity to receive lost credit.

I took Dr. Matthews for English 1101 during Fall of 2016 She is a tough grader when writing essay papers If you have a hard time writing essays I suggest taking another professor She lets you rewrite 2 essays out 5 She has extra credit opportunities I suggest taking advantage of those it could help your grade up to 5 to 6 points

Worst professor I ever had. I would rather have Snoop Dogg teach me than her. She is a tough grader. She takes off points for little errors. I would not recommend this class to anyone. Also, makes you go to drama outside of class.

Dr. Matthews is a kind soul who specializes in poetry. I bought a book of poetry after having her as a professor. I felt she graded generously despite other ratings on this website. I will look to take her again.

A nice old school college professor. She will get off track easily. Will grade paper's heavily. Grammer issues will cost you a letter grade. Quizzes are not bad at all. English is not my strength and made a B.

Comment:

She does not let you get an easy A. she makes you work hard and be passionate about your writing. If you slack off and do not listen closely to her you will not make a good grade. She is old school, but she teaches the material well. Even though she may seem like a cold person she really cares about her students if you get to know her.

She's a pretty boring teacher, who believes in many attempts at explaining a concept, none more clear or revelational than the last. Easy A, and I worked on my own, for-fun novel during class. Her class is more for 9th graders than college freshmen. PS: Don't take out your phone much, and always ask for a star when you volunteer :)

Dr. Matthews was an OK teacher. She was pretty tough and I barely passed with a B. You have to be very specific in what you write and give tons of details. If English is not your strong suit you might want to pick someone else.

Her instructions are super vague. You ask her a question and she never would answer it. She would answer something totally irrelevant. She wasn't hard but her clarity was horrible.

Not a good professor. she has like 2 books of poetry and ive seen a 3rd grader write better. she will grade your paper based off of her opinion. god forbid you use one single cliche. super easy. super boring. not a very interesting person. if you want to learn dont take her.

This professor is very unclear when giving assignments. She makes you believe you have free reign of topics, but when you select one she does not like or does not agree with, you fail. Also, she uses unclear grading methods so you never really know where you stand in her class academically. Overall an unpleasant experience. NEVER AGAIN!

She doesn't give clear requirements for assignments, and when she does give requirements, she grades it differently. Her grading system is poor. She is very narrow-minded and not very multi-culturally sensitive to this subject. I will never take her again.

She is not clear on ANY assignments, and she changes her mind at random about the requirements. Also, she gives grades like "check, check plus or check minus" and it is hard to figure out where you stand in her class. I was really excited about the class I took with her, but midway through it I regretted taking her. I will NEVER take her again!

This class was one of the hardest ones I have ever taken. She doesn't tell you what she expects and grades things with grades such as "checkmark" and "check plus" and has no real number system that correlates. She's killing me.

I had the lady for english 0096. She was ok. But now that I am in her english 1101 class I would NEVER recommend her. She has her fav people to call on and, grades papers poorly. She often sometimes confuses her self in class and sometimes dont even know the answer while goin over quizes. If you take her.....GOOD LUCK!

She is a very sweet woman, but it is hard for her comprehend a lot of what her students say. If you dont agreee with her opinions, most of the time, they are wrong. If you talk a lot in class, she will give you great grades. Only problem is I brought to her attn a cheating student, and nothing was done.

Comment:

Anything opinionated that she does not agree with will fail. On the drama review assignment, make sure to evaluate the performance, not s play as a whole. You will shoot down any opinion made in class if she does not agree with it. Does not explain the assignments well, so you think you have some freedom. Wrong!
