Comment:

Professor Cohen made all assignments very clear from the beginning, as everything is laid out in the syllabus. There are chapter postings every week which have a specific, but easy to follow criteria. He gives amazing feedback if you don't get full credit on any assignment and allows you to go back and edit. Follow the criteria and submit on time!

Comment:

Professor Cohen's class is actually easy to pass if you just complete all the assignments on time. His assignments are very understandable because he provides many resources to help you with it. Majority of his quizzes and exams are quite easy because they are basically open booked and done at home.

Comment:

By far the worst class I've ever taken. Very heavy textbook reading, chapter postings are weekly, need to be at least one page long. He wants students to follow a certain guideline and is a tough grader. Criteria and expectations were VERY confusing. Even when I email him, his emails are unclear! I had to work for my grade. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

This course is a 3-hour long lecture and for the most part you don't have to be there because everything can be self-taught. 3/4 of your grade will be on chapter postings which are every week and need to be a page long and he wants you to follow a certain guideline, even then he grades postings very harshly. I wouldn't recommend this class at all.

Takes attendance & if you have missing assignments and he checks that you regularly come to class then he'll allow you to turn in late work. LOTS of writing every week. Didn't feel like I learned much in lectures because you read a lot and learn everything from the textbook. Forum posts take a bit to get used to as he expects it to be a certain way

Rent txtbk. Writing heavy, submit papers 2 days early for his feedback. Open book tests but u need to study: no time to look much up. Put lots of effort into course paper which isn't that hard and try do perfect on it. He grades heavy on postings & his criteria seems to vary even though i used the same writing formula for all assignments. no curve.

His syllabus is clear, but it took me a couple assignments to figure out exactly what he wants in your assignments. Very specific grader, but provides a checklist for you to follow. Once you figure out how he grades, it's pretty easy to get A's on assignments. Lots of reading/writing! Requires long discussion postings for every chapter.

My first online class that I have taken this spring 2018. A LOT OF WORK and A LOT OF TEXT BOOK USE (reading). 15 chapter postings due every week, 4 quizzes, 4 exams (all open book, 1 hour for exams but I believe 2 hours for final exam. quizzes are unlimited time and tries), and 1 course paper. But, when in need of help, he seems lazy & bothered.

This was the first online class I had taken and the there was a lot of work such as postings, course papers, assignments and exams. Exams are open book but you have a certain amount of time to complete them as well as a deadline. Chapter postings are done every week and they have a certain requirement as well, other than that he replies via email!

Mr. Cohen is very accessible when it comes to questions and my concerns. I took his online class and he responds to his email right away He gives a lot of encouragement. I almost drop the class at the beginning of the semester, but he encouraged me to continue. As long as you study hard and follow, he adds points to your grade right away.

I would NOT recommend him for an online Summer class. Of course there was lots of homework because it was during the Summer; however, this wasn't the issue. Some of his instructions were unclear and when I asked for clarification he was rude and arrogant. Even when I would call his office line he sounded like I was bothering him.

He is a great teacher. A lot of weekly postings but if completed easy A. Most tests were open book. Sometimes gives extra credit on the spot in class... usually when a lot of people skipped class so show up for extra points. A lot of work but an A is easily attainable if you do all of the work.

Nice instructor, but what scared many students off was that he asks for a lot of essay writing in his online course. He should consider that many students are beginners, and he needs to go easy. Instead, just offer more of multiple tests or quizzes.

Chapter posting for each chapter & provides an outline of what's needed for each chapter posting. OPEN BOOK ON ALL EXAMS & provides a study guide, so I just put a post stick on all the topics in the book. His study guide is in the order of the exam questions, so no need to search here and there for the answers. All multiple choice for his exams.

Heavy textbook use. Our homework consisted of chapter postings on Laulima, one every week. He also gives you the chance to redo/edit your postings if you're interested. Open book exams - straight to the point and easy to pass as long as you know the content. Easy class as long as you put some effort into it.

Awesome class! To begin with, taking classes during the summer is tough as is. Only six weeks to cover so much. Just as long as you read your text and follow the outline he wants you to use for each of your postings, you will do fine in this class.

This class was once a week for 3 hours long. Yes, 3 hours seems long but I actually found the material interesting. He's a cool professor with a different sense of humor. There were times he would make jokes but no one would really get it XD. At least he tries. He's actually a really laid back and chill. Easy A... Heavy textbook use

I took his class once a week, and its 3 hours long. I would have totally gone more if it wasn't, it is REALLY BORING. Besides the fact, chapter postings are majority of your grade, and for me, I'd rather not even do the final paper which is only worth 30 points, compared to 380 pts worth of summaries. I recommend. Study guides help BIG TIME.

Easy class but 19 at least 2 page papers to write! They are the majority of your grade. Use the study guide and exams are pretty easy. A lot of opportunity for xtra credit and lets you re-write papers for better grades but they are time consuming. Class is kinda boring and found it difficult to go but does give xtra credit on occasion for attending
