I took classes with Prof. Hecht back in 2005. He was terribly disorganized, didn't return assignments, and missed classes. He knows a lot but shows off more than teach. I am glad to know he's moved out of academia. People can make career mistakes and it's good to correct them.

I took classes w/Prof. Hecht at Castleton State College in VT. Yes he is extremely erudite and probably dreams in Ancient Greek. What really set him apart from others was his passion for literature. Few of my teachers have inspired me to work as hard on my papers as he did. He liked the 'close reading' of texts; Dante, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche!

I don't think those comments above came from students I think the professor wrote it himself he is the worst, worst thing I ever came across in Baruch run far away from him okay. He should not be there he is not Baruch quality.

wonderful professor who is extremely smart and knows alot but is very cool. listens to what u want to say and likes it when u write about ur thoughts and when u use the 6 senses in ur writings,likes self thought and will grade generously if u participate. can be great if u like great thinkers!

The final was really hard, he said to know all works we did yet he only focused on like 5 so those other 2 hours were wasted studing, he's alright in class but I believe an unfair grader, if you get his class at 7:30 am dont bother showing up that much.

hes really nice and sweet when you talk to him, can be a bit intimidating because hes so smart so everyones scared to say anything in class..he grades very generously and the readings he chooses are interesting if a bit challenging for kids in the morning

wants three 4-6 page papers, a little much, me thinks....hes really funny but then its weird when you joke around with him, makes it awkward...hes super smart but the class never participates so we sort of discourage him, easy on the grading

Very interesting class. You learn a lot of the right-wing conspiracy stuff and corruption within government bodies. He is very knowledgeable about English, think of him as a living Oxford English Dictionary. Very disorganized though.

He's a really likeable guy and very funny. She's extremely passionate about literature which can be quite infectious. He's very open to question and has lots of patience. He's a bit disorganized and often goes off on a tangent. Easy class though.
