Comment:

Gives to much homework, and mostly boring non musical excercises that will only get you better at excercises, not music. Told us too buy both his book, waste of money. Childrens stuff, and he plays the examples in the book on the cd that follows poorly! Dont take his class!

Comment:

Very good player. He's a jazz/fusion guy, but he can genuinely play rock and pop and stuff without trying to turn it jazzy, which is refreshing at Berklee. Nice enough guy, but he's not very patient with people who don't have a lot of time to practice. If you're a performance major, he'll be your favorite, but he can be rude.

Comment:

Joe is a great teacher! I had him for 5 & 6 String Bass Lab. He gives you a lot of work to do with patterns and sequences feels overwhelming at first but as long as you consistently keep up and practice, his techniques will really improve your ear and your playing! He is a really funny, friendly, chill guy!

Great guy and fantastic player. He's down to earth, but has some really great insights and exercises to help improve your playing. He plays a 6-string and encourages you to get familiar with all 6 strings (if that's what you play on).

Joe's a great player and great guy. He assigns a lot of work, but it helps your playing, reading, and bass line construction a lot. Always presents a good challenge and is helpful if you show potential.

Had him in 6string lab and private instruction. Usually when I start with a teacher I feel really uncomfortable and inhibited in front of them. I felt comfortable with this guy. I highly recommend him.

I'm surprise when I see that everybody says Joe is cool.For me Joe wasn't a good teacher.Awesome electric player,but no idea on how to teach.He didn't gave us any guide on how improve or work.Just playing standards all the time. I had to ask him for info and answered really bitterly,& forgot about it if you play acoustic bass.I DONT RECOMMEND HIM.

Very Amazing bassist, he'll give you a ton of work that you think you couldnt possibly do but you come back next week and you're able to do it. Ive grown so much since taking private lessons from him.

Santerre had great humor and great chops. I definately recommend this guy, he'll awe you with his playing and youll crack up every time.
