Comment:

Wettaw is easily the worst "professor" I have ever had the displeasure of taking. He is wrong about most of the material he explains, but refuses to admit it so you have to learn it the wrong way which is fantastic. He is the reason I am now an accounting major. Avoid at all costs, just because his names one the building doesn't mean he can teach.

While he is a nice guy if you don't have a class with him, he is a horrible teacher. He always says he is right no matter how wrong he is and constantly messes up on simple math. His notes are confusing and he refuses to tell you what chapter you're on. He tells you that you should know already even when he's never mentioned it at all.

He always thinks he is right and says the opposite of what the book says. he doesn't teach, only writes on the board and expects you to know what he is talking about.

This prof was very difficult to understand. Especially coming back into chemistry after a couple of years have passed. I did not understand any of the material until I had to relearn it in CHM 152. I would look for a different prof if you are new to chem.

Horrible teacher, avoid at all costs. He messes up problems all the time, and yells at kids when they point it out. VERY old fashioned. I think he knows a lot about chemistry, he's just an awful teacher. His tests and quizzes are pretty awful, and things learned from homework are often not on exams or quizzes.

Dr. Wettaw is a very kind teacher. Although I struggled with the material and didn't get great test scores, he saw that I was trying my best in class, and used that to help me in the class. I ended up passing with a B. Confusing lectures, but no mastering chem and easy hw.

I liked him a lot, but he's hard for those with no chem experience. If you're taking Wettaw and haven't had chem before, read the book and make sure you pay attention to what he says more than what he writes on the board. But if you took chem in high school this class will be pretty easy. Old fashioned/doesn't use MasteringChem.

Extremely horrible. I recommend jumping off a bridge rather than be in Wettaw's class. You are constantly in an utter state of confusion. Very unapproachable. If you ask a question be prepared for him to not answer it. If he doesn't give you an answer that in no way pertains to the question asked, he will tell you to figure it out. End of story.

The worst professor I have ever encountered. No only is he unclear, he refuses to answer any questions with the come back "I'm not here to just give you to answers if you don't study". Consistently gets questions and simple math wrong. Can get a decent grade in his class but you will be teaching yourself. My suggestion is avoid him at all costs.

Horrible professor, lectures make no sense. Material we go over is fairly straight forward but he makes it so confusing. If you ask a question he will beat around the bush without even answering the question. I do not recommend taking his course unless you have no other options.

Dr. Wettaw is a great man, and extremely smart. There is no doubt he knows the material he just can't teach it as well as he thinks he does. He gets very confusing and will mix up things in class and then won't catch it and then you learn the wrong info. He's just too old to be teaching and I wouldn't recommend unless extremely good at chemistry.

hes such a nice man. if you ask him to clarify or go over a question he will wave his hands around and say something like "the reaction goes!" plan on making friends in this class so they can help you cause you dont stand a chance. ill be so thankful and happyo maintain my C

Wettaw is not a good quality teacher. His lectures are confusing and he rambles about useless things. He is not helpful when questions are asked, he answers with useless responses. I would not recommend taking him, if possible take Meyers. If you have him, you must go to all si sessions. Plan on teaching yourself the entire book.

I would not recommend taking an intro chem class from him if you have no prior experience with it. He expects you to already know a lot of fundamentals going into it. He is a really nice and funny guy though, and very willing to help outside of class.

Hes really a great guy, very brilliant and comical and loves talking to his students, but when it comes to teaching, its not his field. I found learning VERY difficult to understand and unclear. Don't take him if you haven't taken chem before or just not good at it. This class was A LOT of work. Be prepared!!

Wettaw is a great man and he has done wonders with his life and it has been a pleasure to have him as a professor. He is not the greatest teacher, but not the worst. He is pretty funny and interesting, but his age gets in the way of him teaching sometimes. I do recommend Wettaw, just study hard and go to class.
