English 102 is a tough class for a non-writer. There is a lot of homework, that takes a lot of time. Showing up for class is important, but Katie makes it go by fast. She is down to earth and very helpful. I hate English and research papers, but having Katie as a teacher was the only thing that made it bearable!!

Katie was very nice in class and made me become a better writer. But going to her feedback sessions were rough- she would tell everyone their paper sucked and that they were awful writers(I'm not making this up). I'm happy that I became a better writer but now I'm so terrified to write for other classes because I think I'm awful because of her.

Class was tough, but she's really helpful! She was an awesome instructor. Even though I HATE research papers, she was one of my favorite teachers. Go to office hours and listen to her guidance, it helps!

Basically the entire class is doing your research paper. Her feedback is frustrating and seems never ending. If you're not on topic, she will call you out and make you lead the discussion. Nice person, tough teacher.

I had Katie for English 102 and she was awesome. Although her class was challenging, if you work hard you should have no problem passing. She wants all of her students to pass. She is also good with giving advice on how to improve your writing. I strongly suggest meeting with her one on one closer to the end of the semester. I got an A.

Katie Javers insisted I would fail her class as a freshman because I refused to make up information for my research essay. I had two other English 102 instructors read over my research essay who said it was better than anything their students were writing. Good thing Javers didn't have the ability to give my grade. I ended up with a B+.

Great instructor, very helpful. Assignments were useful when the Final was due. The downfall is the portfolio due. Not her fault but you can get a good grade in class but fail the portfolio judging. Pray you pass that. I recommend her.

Katie is a nice woman, very helpful and promotes discussion quite well however....I ended up in this class after transferring to UWM. If only, if only i had a chance to take the placement exam i could have easily tested out of this course. You do is write a 10 page research paper on a topic you have little interst of, and pray you pass portfolio.
