Kay Johnson knows what she wants from her students. She has high expectations for her students - which is either refreshing for a Hampshire student or a student's worst nightmare. She knows if you're a slacker, but she's willing to help anyone. Anyone who complains about Kay doesn't want to be challenged and probably shouldn't have taken the class.

Fabulous professor and well-designed course (China Rising). She has selected very interesting readings and presents multiple viewpoints. She likes to challenge students to think about things in different ways, so if she does this to you don't take it personally.

Had her for China Rising. The course is interesting and Kay knows just about all there is to know about China. I have been frustrated with how little space she gives students to have opinions of China that differs from her own. All things considered, I am glad I took her class.

Kay is knowledgeable about China in every possible way. She can be scatterbrained, but she is extremely eager to help students who have a genuine interest in the subject learn/integrate it with their other interests. Very encouraging and approachable, but she does seem to pick favorites.
