Professor Sakoda is probably the most chill professor I had so far. Very knowledgeable in his area and knows how to relate the subject-matter to our personal lives, especially if you're a local and born in Hawaii. Just show up, participate in class, and you'll get a good grade. A few homework, a journal, no tests, and a group project in the end!

Ai lav dis gai! Such a nice person, and very knowledgeable. Even if you grew up here, you'll be blown away by what you learn in this class. I was! Homework was minimal/non-existent but lectures are crammed full of info. The feel of the class is very relaxed. Kent has a light-hearted sense of humor and often brings food in. I recommend this class!

Ho ba, min da klaes! Fo loco gaiz teik dis wan fo get smat! haha Nah, Kent is a good teacher and one learns a lot about the socio history of Hawaii and how its Hawaiian Creole English (Pidgin) came to be. Very interesting subject matter and issues/topics. I really feel this class help me developing a better understanding of myself and how I speak

He is a very helpful guy, very funny and likes to joke around and have a few laughs. If someone has a question he'll answer it and hold off on text book stuff. It's a great class but any class with him would be good.
