Comment:

If you want to become a great artist and push yourself past your comfort zone take this class. Although I initially was not used to a more intense style of class, I feel like I learned the most. Be prepared to work hard. Kim is always attentive and so smart when it comes to instruction. She is a great muralist, highly recommend murals and figure.

Comment:

A huge condescending and stubborn teacher. She expects us to know exactly what were doing even though this is just a foundations class. I did learn some stuff from her, yeah, but its not worth the countless amount of times she refused to listen to students genuine concerns.

Comment:

One of the worst professors I have ever encountered. Was not helpful, at all. Literally said to our class "figure it out" when we questioned her on technique. Called me a liar in front of the entire class when I missed a day due to a death in the family. Very tough grader who gives 6 hours of homework per week. Rude and demanding. Avoid at all cost

Very demanding professor, but I learned a great deal in this class. Kim always walked around the whole class time to help with your projects and was also super encouraging. She always has a smile on her face and is fun to be around. I also admire her artwork, very bright and colorful.

This is a fast moving class with a lot of in class work and homework. Kim is very helpful and walks around the entire class and gives direction on your work. She pushes hard so be prepared to work hard.

She was the most discouraging professor, I'd even say teacher in general, that I've ever had in my life. She plays favorites, she makes you conform to her style of painting, she gives you no freedom in class and discourages you from taking liberties with the homework, and she's super strict. If you want to feel like giving up, take her classes.

Going into this class knowing the difficulty beforehand. We are working on colors. Homework is incredibly difficult, but the knowledge and mastery attained on pushing the self is equally incredible. Perform well and she'll even do a "happy dance." Love the challenges she offers and the upbeat nature of her classroom.

Martinez is hands down the best drawing instructor I have ever had. I would not say that she is difficult or tough, its the drawing that is tough, art is not easy. She also has a great sense of humor that keeps the class upbeat.

This is a really tough drawing class. She is helpful if you don't understand but she goes through concepts really quickly. You have to attend class and you have a hw assignment due once a week. It's a lot of work and very time consuming. She is willing to help but i still feel the concepts were gone over too quickly
