Mustart is super tough, definitely one of the hardest GE classes. He gives you all the tools you need to pass, it just takes studying and time. Make sure that you can make the two Sunday all-day filed trips because if not, you'll be dropped. Mustart is hilarious and a great guy, but don't take this class if you're looking for an easy B1 class.

By far the hardest class I have ever taken at SFSU. Dont get me wrong, David is a good guy but his hard is ridiculously difficult! Literally studied for this class more than all my other classes combined. I took the Lecture and Lab combined so there were 3 lecture exams and around 5 lab exams with one field project. Stay away from this class!

there are three exams (short answers, multiple choice, fill in the blank, and homework), one field project, some homework, and two required filed trips on Saturday (don't go he will drop you). Extra credit if you bring book to class ( given randomly). lectures after exams, he keeps you until the end.

Easily the worst class I have ever taken. Study guides are 10-12 pages long. He expects you to know every detail plus he's a tough grader. If an arrow is off on the map he will take points off. Arrows must be exactly NE or SW! Dont take this class as a GE, save yourself the trouble.

David's class is interesting, and his passion for the subject is very apparent. He gives out detailed review questions prior to each test; if you use these as a study guide, you'll do well on the exam. He is straight-forward, fair and answers questions in detail. You need to be at every class in order to do well (skip and you miss a lot).

A lot of work for a GE. 10 page exams but every question is on the study guide so study well. Two very fun field trips, 3 exams (10 pages each) and 1 field project. You must attend all field trips or you WILL get withdrawn from the class. I am not a geology major but i enjoyed his class and learned a lot.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS AS A GE. THIS CLASS SHOULD BE SPECIFICALLY FOR GEOLOGY MAJORS. He gives very detailed lectures and you'll need to take 5-9 pages of notes a day. Study guides are 10 pages long with 16 page tests. VERY BORING LECTURES. Mistakes are not acceptable in this class. Only take course if you are passionate about rocks and landforms.

Yes he will give you a ton of handouts, like 30+. Yes he will give you every question he puts on the exam beforehand. No this is not an easy A. He doesn't like complainers. His class is very old-fashioned, the homework is minimal, and there is only one big project. You will learn a lot and you will never look at a rock the same way again.

This teacher is extremely hard, expects way to much. I studied more for this class than all my others combined. tests are long and you have to know everything on study guides. He doesn't help, read directions well! I look lab + lecture. don't do it if its not a requirement for your major. took up so much of my time and was a really stressful class

I took GEOL 110 with Mustart. He is very clear on what will be on exams so if you study you'll get a good grade. Pay attention as there is lots of material. I highly recommend this course. Great professor and great gateway class to geology.

Such a difficult teacher. Expects way too much out of his students and his tests are incredibly hard. There is absolutely no room for error in his class. 5 page study guide and 10 page test in which he expects his students to know everything.

I honestly wanted to major in geology before taking this class, but David likes to ruin kids goals. The amount of information David expects you to memorize is unfair, and it doesn't help that you can't ask questions in class because he is pretty much deff. There was so many negative aspects to this class I cannot fill it in with only 350 characters

Professor Mustart's lectures are as dry as his hair is long. Between his monotonous voice and his tendency to talk over his video lectures, thereby causing students to miss several answers, this class was a struggle from start to finish. To his credit, all answers to his tests are in the packet, if you can keep up with his lecture pace.

Loved Mustart. A great professor and so funny! I only took it to satisfy a science w/lab requirement but have to say that I truly enjoyed and learned a lot. He tells tons of interesting stories. His tests are super long but provides the class with a very comprehensive review. I can honestly say I'll never look at a rock again the say way!

Hardest class I've ever taken, but the most fun I've ever had. Was dreading studying rocks, but loved every second. He's a great guy and loves his job. His tests were riduclous: 10 page study guides, 16 page tests. STUDY. Take loads of notes and write things down exactly as he does. Memorize his maps and diagrams. Field trips were AWESOME.

He is a very nice guy. This class is very hard and requires a lot of work to get a decent grade. Tests are extremely long (15 pages)and hard. Don't take this class if you don't like Geology. Lab was easy and he allowed notes for lab tests. But the lecture part had 3 15 page exams. You will not pass if you don't study for the exams.

Funny, knowledgable and an extremely interesting person. It's a fun class but requires you to put in ALOT of effort (or else u get dropped). Attendance is mandatory. Love how he randomly tells us about his personal life. Difficult for a GE class but it was definitely worth it.

David is a fantastic professor - he knows how to get through to students, while pushing them to rise to meet his expectations. I had no idea what to expect when I signed up for his class, but it ended up being one of my favorites. As long as you put in the effort, it's not hard to ace his class. Attendance is mandatory, but it's worth it!
