This class is very hard. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT take this class as a Gen Ed. The exam are difficult and he will not re explain anything. This is suppose to be an introductory class but all the concepts are very hard and confusing to understand.

I do not recommend anyone to take his class, he is vary narrow minded and only explains what he feels is the right answer. He encourages people to share what they feel, but then quickly rejects their ideas and continues with what he thinks. The exams are difficult even if you use the study guides.

Comment:

Although i did not receive a good grade, i thought mr. reed was an excellent professor. Many students complain that he lectured on random things and tested on other topics. In reality, if you follow along with the book and study for each quiz before hand, this class is easy and fairly interesting due to the amount of knowledge Mr. Reed has.

He is terrible! Worst instructor I have ever had! He makes it impossible to get a good grade in his class. Very discouraging for my first semester at EMU! He doesn't help at all and his tests are impossible! He is rude and shouldn't be employed at a university! GET HIM OUT OF THERE!

Avoid this professor. His lectures didn't help when you took his test. The test were awful, I attended class everyday and took notes and studied still didn't help. But, he did offer help if you needed it after class. I had to drop out!

Can't believe no one has complained to administration.Prof Reed expects students who have never taken a PHIL course to understand advanced concepts. No matter how hard you study or try to understand his lectures, you will not earn an A in this class. Exams are ridiculously difficult and are basically all extensive essay questions. AVOID THIS PROF.

I am taking his online class right now for Fall semester. In his lectures he talks about something else half the time. Which makes it really confusing. Not only that the DropBox questions are completely confusing. Those questions make no sense. The exams are hard as well. I don't recommend.

He is very interested in philosophy and is very enthusiastic I must say. Although If you are taking a philosophy class just for a gen ed DO NOT take this class. This is a serious class. He drops multiple quiz grades, exam grades, and sometimes drops the grade scale an entire letter grade because of how challenging he makes his class. Do not take.

I took this class last summer online. His class schedule was easy, but asking for help and his tests were ridiculously hard. He didn't help with emails or anything.. very rude.

I am a 4.0 student and i had trouble with this prof. While interesting and educational the class will kill your gpa. He asks that you come to his office hours but when you do he is condescending and rude. His tests are made of mainly essay questions which he answers and breaks into 3 bullet points. if you dont have those points you're out of luck

A wretched professor. Dr. Reed appears to be a miserable oaf, but this can't excuse his intentional efforts to be confusing, contrary, and dismissive. The work itself isn't hard, but it's difficult to earn a good grade. Unless you're one of the females he favors, expect to get papers back with detailed gibberish that Mikey couldn't explain.

My favorite professor at Eastern hands down. I wish all University courses were like his. Thought provoking, challenging and a lot of hard work. Dr. Reed is an intelligent and passionate man. Standards are a good thing. Higher learning should challenge you. It's not a continuation of high school. Participate, read and study, and you will do well.

My questions weren't really answered, though he welcomes questions he only is responsive to the 'intelligent' questions. He really likes attendance to his office hours, though from what I've heard its merely to debate the topics not actually help one understand them... Good luck

HORRIBLE teacher! Had to withdrawl from the class because i couldnt even stand to sit through it any longer. I thought philosophy was different views...not in this class. Its strictly HIS views....hes rude and shouldnt be teaching. I do NOT reccomend this class to anyone.

This teach is piss poor at best. Read the book here are some hints on what will be tested is how his online class is set up. This makes it very unclear what exactly is being asked, especially on a topic such as philosophy.
