I am currently taking two classes with this professor and she is' awesome. She doesn't just ramble on and on like many other professors. She connects with her students and os very understanding. We also get a break during our hour and 45 min class which isn't required to have a break.

This Fem&Porn course contains A LOT of reading assignments, and the class only consists of discussions. She tends to interrupt while students are speaking to interject her viewpoints. The papers are comparable to a 300 level (challenging criteria, very conceptual). She is passionate and nice, but I wouldn't recommend. Too challenging to enjoy.

I had taken her for humn as a soph, and after all I heard about how hard HUMN is, I was delightfully surprised with her class. She is insanely caring, funny, and will help you if you need it. Beware, there are quizes every day but if you read and take some notes they are easy As each time. Only two papers and one final. I absolutely loved her!

Far too harsh of a grader, even after seeing her about one of the papers I still received a bad grade. There is a quiz EVERY DAY- if you skip class your grade will drop every day as you will receive a 0 on a quiz. Quizzes are so difficult that even after reading the books I didn't know the answers. No extra credit.A good person but not a good prof.

Not an "easy A" for sure, but hands down the most influential professor and class I've ever taken. You read, you'll do fine. Tips: GO TO CLASS and take good notes and mark down page numbers when she says them to refer back to

Comment:
An unreasonable amount of reading, even for an English class. The class was discussion based, but her questions didn't facilitate interesting discussions and she often rushed through people's explanations. She's helpful for the writing process, but her grading criteria is very unclear and seemed somewhat subjective

I'd say Professor Rutkowski is easily one of the best professors to take if you're new to the major (or just want a cool lens to look at 19th century literature through). Interested in queer/gender theory? You'll Iove any of the classes she teaches. Overall, a fun and laid back classroom experience. She wants you to get an A.

She's pretty fair but if class discussion isn't up to her standards, she gets really angry. She is a harsh but fair grader, and I didn't realize how hard the grading would be based on how easy everything else is. The readings are insane. 200+ pages sometimes between classes and forum postings have to be done way before class, which makes you rush.

Great teacher. She is very knowledgable and loves what she does. There are several readings throughout the course, but most of them are very interesting. It is a discussion class, so participation is graded. There are also weekly forum postings, but she lets you miss 2 of them. She is very helpful is asked and overall a great person.

She get's really into all the texts and she is a tough grader. Make sure you have someone check over your work before handing in anything. The class is very interesting but majority of the readings are really dry!!!

Professor Rutkowski's "Voices and Perspectives" class was a very interesting class to attend, being based exclusively on discussion, the best way to study Literature. Her grading was never clear though, and papers were tough to do very well on. Aside from that, she gave simple reading quizzes and one group project (also tough grading).

The class itself is wonderful- great discussion, and Prof. Rutkowski is so fun and interesting. It is hard to get As on her papers though, and she's never totally clear on what you did wrong

Do not take an Alice Rutowski class... shes one of those teachers who gives you a bad grade if your work doesnt reflect her thoughts/opinions on a topic. One of the worst classes I took at Geneseo in my four years. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS

I love Alice Rutkowski. She always has an incredible amount of energy; sometimes it's even hard to keep up. The class discussions are always really interesting and engaging, although because everyone has so much to say, sometimes she will call on the next person on the very tail end of your comment. It's very fast-paced. The reading isn't too bad.

Professor Rutkowski is very passionate about what she teaches and it come across in the way she teaches it. Class was entirely discussion based and you didn't have to talk but your grade would suffer if you didn't occasionally chip in. She makes the class fun and doesn't mind going off topic a bit. She does require a lot of reading though.

Prof. Rutkowski is extremely nice. Class went quick for an hour and a half and the readings very actually interesting. She treats the class as an equal discussion and interjects with her own points. Worth it.

She's great. The class is really interesting but easy to fall behind in the reading. It seems like those in the class that don't read can do pretty well in the long run. I read for every class and she keeps the class very interesting. I'd take her for Humn but it's too early in the morning for me.

A nice lady but arrogant and somewhat self-centered. Class consists mostly of discussion; she interrupts often and doesn't let students finish their thoughts. Unnecessarily hard grading. She didn't make Thoreau, Hawthorne and Emerson interesting.

Alice is extremely helpful in and outside the classroom. she is tough dont get me wrong but you can go to her anytime for help and she will work with you until you understand or are on the right track. The class is fun with lots of discussion. Not very tough to go to class though as she is gorgeous. If the question is hot or not.. HOT

We read a lot and class was mostly discussion- don't expect her to just talk to you. Very friendly, very approachable and helpful during office hours. She grades tough on papers, but why shouldn't we have to work hard for our grades?
