He loves to talk. The whole class is a lecture for 2 1/2 hours with little slide shows or aid, it's just talking. He gets off topic a lot but he is funny and makes jokes that make himself laugh. He is very caring, but the class was kind of boring. Grade is based on discussion boards and tests.

Professor Makridis is a great professor, he challenges you to really think in a different perspective, he is extremely smart and knows what he is talking about. I thoroughly enjoyed his ethics course. Every week there is a discussion board, and he post a lot of information and no textbook required he provides us with everything.

Comment:
Professor Makridis' Ethics class is extremely lecture-heavy. His classes are mostly auditory. Combine that with the fact that this class is 2 hours long, it becomes easy for any student to zone out extremely easily. On the other hand, his pacing in class is decent. Were his lectures more visual (slides), it'd be easier to stay focused in class.

His English is incomprehensible! He rambles nonstop during the 2 hour lectures making class unbearable. All course material was copied and pasted from online encyclopedias so he did not present anything original. This course did not relate to biomedical ethics at all! He takes points off of essays without any explanation. STAY AWAY!!!

Comment:
Biomedical ethics with Professor Makridis is a philosophy class loosely related to biomed ethics through two or three case studies. Grades are based on a few papers that are not graded easily. I fell asleep during this class many times; I would not take this class again with this professor.

Comment:
Biomedical ethics with Professor Makridis is extremely boring. Content does not relate to the "biomedical" part of ethics at all. Only a few grades for the class, and papers are graded harshly. He will poke holes in any argument you make. Not an easy A as it should be. I would suggest going for another teacher if you need this class.

He has a lot of knowledge and does not want you to fail. He gave my class plenty of take-home quizzes to boost our grade. He does not care about attendance and can do whatever you want during his class. I personally really liked him.

Read his ratemyprofessor page before picking him & didn't know what to expect. First off attendance is totally optional. Ur grade is the average of 4 papers u hand in online. Nothing else. Classes range from interesting to sleep aids (use ur phone or laptop). I swear he grades on how much he likes u. Use office hours if ur failing, that helped me.

WARNING: FIND ANOTHER PHILOSOPHY PROFESSOR. Professor Makridis was by far the worst professor/teacher I have ever had in all my years as a student. He is an insanely hard grader and expects the students to know more than what is talked about in class. His lectures are long, boring, and confusing. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, AND FIND ANOTHER PROFESSOR.

Prof. Makridis taught my university class that was supposed to be an easy A. However, he is usually a philosophy teacher which made the class UNBEARABLE. He also graded extremely hard, and even ended up giving me a B+!! It's university!!!! I could not listen to him even the one day a week I had him. BEWARE, take ANYONE else.

Makridis is the type of professor to encourage you to think outside the box. Unfortunately many of my classmates just didn't pay attention to what this brilliant man had to say. Very friendly and approachable and always willing to help. Not much homework. His classes were discussions more than anything. Sleep or ignore him and you'll miss a lot.

At first, i have to admit, i misjudged him and took him to be the worst professor ever. But quickly realized he's actually a great guy. Have to admit, the class is super boring and he just keeps talking. But at least you don't have to do as much hw as other Univ. Professors. He's super chill and the class is a breeze.

Took an online class with him over the summer. He didn't post the assignments in advance until Friday and were due sunday so you couldn't even do the assignments in advance with little notice. Do not take an online class with him and he is very unreasonable.

Super boring lectures & his accent makes it worse. He takes attendance but you might as well not show up to class because you won't learn. Spent most of the class on my laptop. Tests can be tricky, and he awkwardly winks and sticks his tongue out- pretty uncomfortable. Would not take again. He does seem very knowledgeable though.

Misunderstood genius. Yes, he has a thick accent but it's not hard to get used to. Most people don't engage him, so he thinks they don't understand. He's repetitive to be thorough, not boring. He also makes random comments so you HAVE to pay attention/follow. Not unreasonable at all. Always available for office hours. Willing to help who wants it.

I took many of his classes while earning my undergraduate. Probably one of the most intelligent human beings I've ever met, and as patient and humble as he is brilliant. If you have a genuine interest to learn, he will not hesitate to meet you on your level, or any level you desire to communicate on. Do yourself a favor and pay attention to him.

So hard to follow, due to both his accent and how he doesn't stay on topic to often. Class is hard to follow, and tests are hard to study for due to not knowing what to expect on them.
