Comment:
This is a little proof heavy class, but he makes it computational. He is the best at explaining proofs than other professors. Takes off a lot of points for small mistakes. During COVID, he posted more lessons than the time limit should be going overtime. There weren't enough practice problems to do HW.

Lecture is not helpful to do some hw problems, not enough example problems. Uses MatLab programs to solve computation and modify code but not create them. Exams are only computational. The class is easy b/c it's very heavy in math equations but I didn't like the class because we didn't cover a lot of other biology fields and applications.

Extremely straightforward. If you do the homework, you will do well on the tests. He's also really endearing. And he's more than happy to help outside of class (even if you need help with a problem not specific to the class you have with him. He's helped me with everything from my grad-level relativity class to computational optimization problems.)

I took linear algebra over the summer. He primarily uses examples that are also in the book and tells you which one he is using, so I was able to follow along if I missed anything or couldn't see the board. He graded all our homework promptly and provided his own solutions. His exams were largely based on the homework.

I also took him for Nursing statistics (before I changed my major) and I found that both classes were designed similarly. Attendance is mandatory b/c there's always a quiz at the end of class (group/independent) but he doesn't check. You don't turn in the homework but quizzes are based on it. He gives you study guides!

Olaf is a funny guy, he's very jumpy and gets overly excited about math. I took his Linear class in the summer so very fast paced and I wouldn't skip a class. Grades homework pretty critically and tests can be tough. But he's a great teacher even though he has a little accent. go to his office hours, it helps.

Prof Hansen is a great stats teacher! It does help a lot if you have background knowledge in Statistics. Having taken AP Stats, this course was not so bad for me. He has HW quizzes at the end of every class; however, if you do the daily HW you'll be fine. If you have no background in Stats, make sure you follow along in class & go to office hours!

Regardless of your background in statistics, this professor makes the subject very easy to understand. It isn't an easy A though; math takes time and effort to understand. There are study guides provided before each test; do the study guides and you should pass. Also do the homework; quizzes should be easy points.

Professor Hansen is the sweetest guy you will ever meet and works very hard to make sure that his students understand the material. He will answer questions every day and the quizzes come straight from the homework. If you ask questions and do the work you will do fine.

Professor Olaf was awesome, super funny, and easy to understand. The quiz questions are pretty much straight from the homework questions, and he has an individual quiz and a group quiz each week. Whatever is on the study guides is what is on the exams. Overall, a great professor who makes learning stats simple.

My favorite professor this semester. The exam preparations help a lot and are examples of what exactly is going to be on the exams. His lectures are thorough and he always makes sure his students understand the material. There are quizzes every class, but as long as you do your homework you'll get good scores and hopefully a higher overall grade.

His goofy personality is refreshing given that the class is relatively hard. He's always willing to do examples from the homework on the board, just as long as you ask. Know this: If you don't ask the "even" questions, you probably won't know if you have the right answer. Grades are based on 6 things-- quiz average, 4 tests, and 1 final.

Professor Hansen has a quirky personality and really teaches. Whenever he does examples on the board he talks in ways you can relate to or uses a lot of real life examples. Just take down notes every class and really understand the study guides and you'll be fine. His examples are pretty much the textbook explained step by step in more detail.

Grades are based off of daily quizzes and exams. Homework is given everyday but it is not graded, however i highly recommend that you do it because the daily quizzes are questions straight from the hw. Hansen is really sweet and will help you as best as he can with questions during tests. Exam study guides are extremely helpful! Get a study group!

I took Statistics in my senior year of high school so the material was still pretty fresh to me. So, this course was pretty easy for me. Professor Hansen is a great teacher. I really enjoyed his teaching style and his personality. Quizzes every class with the 2nd class of the week being group quizzes. Overall, really liked this class!

This was the one class where I had to study a lot for. There are quizzes every class and his grading criteria is somewhat confusing. It may be hard to read his handwriting for he writes in cursive. His examples are somewhat helpful on the homework but do not help very much. But he can be really sweet and nice if you ask for help

As long as you attend each class, take good notes, and do the hw, you will pass. He starts each class w/ questions about the hw. Then there is a lecture (take notes). Then he gives out quizzes at the end of each class based on hw from the night before (he doesn't collect it). His study guides are VERY helpful. He really curves the grades as well

Professor Hansen is one of the sweetest professor's I have ever had. You are given a quiz at the end of each class but they are exact questions from the hw assigned the previous class so they are not difficult. His grading is very straight forward and his study guides are extremely helpful. He emails back fairly quickly & always answers questions.

He is a great teacher. There are daily quizzes based the assigned homework, but he goes over your questions before the quiz. He also gives a practice test for exams which are very similar. Overall , the class is pretty easy and he is good teacher. He is quick to answer emails and helpful if you get sick. He does have an accent and messy handwriting
