She is very funny! Her jokes and stories are always entertaining. You have to do the homework, but it's a one credit class and she knows it. Put in a LITTLE effort and you'll get an A.

TAKE HER! TAKE HER! 8D She's absolutely hilarious, friendly, & enthusiastic every single day. Calligraphy with her was the single best class I had this semester. She's more than willing to help if you ask. And if no one asks, she'll just spend class talking about something hilarious. Try to keep your brush still while you're cracking up, though. XD

Pang laoshi is great. You have to go to class and do the homework. If you don't do the homework well, she gives you another chance to complete it. She gives extra credit opportunities. Yes, sometimes she rants. It's funny. She does pick on kids who don't do their work. Do the work, go to class, study a bit, and you'll be fine!

In order to get an A in Chinese Calligraphy, you have to be good at it to begin with-- which for most people, is not the case. Prepare to do all the work and get a B.

Very difficult class, do not take unless your major is Chinese or you are VERY serious about learning mandarin. She is very opinionated, and sadly many of her opinions are misinformed. The class is very cut and dry, she will spend the entire first half of class complaining about how the class does not study enough. Student Beware!

Patty Pang is a wonderful teacher! Her class might need some getting used to, but it definitely prepares you for more intense courses later. Get as much as you can from the textbook, her class is where you put what you learned to use. Trust me, she's not bad at all!

She is by far one of my favorite teachers on campus. She loves what she is doing and loves her students. She does go off randomly tangents, but it's part of the cultural aspect in a language class. She teases students a lot, so if you are offended, lighten up. Get help if you need it. STUDY!

I hope that those reading these comments will, ultimately, make the decision to take/not take a class. However, since this site is based on opinions, I will share mine as well. Pang Laoshi is one of the greatest teachers I have ever had; not only does she truly care for her students, her knowledge of the language is outstanding. Take her class!

Patty Pang is easily my favorite teacher thus far. She scurries around the class room so invigorated over the topic it's hysterical. And she teaches very well. Her tests aren't very hard as long as you study (as with any class), but she expects a lot. She also cares more about her students than any teacher I've ever met. Teacher of the year status.

She knows her stuff and she cares. Definitely not a class for slackers. She might go off on tangents, but it's more for cultural understanding than anything. Who knew you'd get that bonus?

She was an entertaining teacher and went off on many tangents in class. She always has the same set of stories she'll tell to each class, which can be good or bad depending on how you view it. I enjoyed taking her class, but she was a bit harsh on grading (especially if you're Chinese).

Just to clarify, she does have a grade book. I've seen it. Pang Laoshi is definitely the hardest CHI professor at ASU. Her tests are hard but managable. She grades you on progress. No extra credit. She's definitely a little harder on Chinese students. I'm only half, but I felt pressure from her. Zhang Laoshi's tests are way easier!

Don't take Pang if you can avoid it. Like someone else said she's hilarious and fun to be around, but there's no real structure to how she grades..She gives you what she feels you deserve, I doubt she even has a gradebook.

Pang Laoshi is difficult to work with. She has a very Chinese mindset meaning you have to work extremely hard and she doesn't take pitty on you. She's very unfair and grades are based on what she thinks you deserve. She drives me crazy as a teacher, but she's funny and fun to be around. Treats students like children, not adults.

People who are looking for an easy grade shouldn't bother signing up for CHI 313. Pang is a tough teacher but really loves her students and wants to see them all do well. Tough grader, but go to class everyday and work hard and she'll show you some mercy. Can't have a thin skin, she jokes because she cares. And because it's funny.

She was GREAT! If you do the work, the class is SUPER easy. She's an easy grader, and everyone that failed deserved it. I got a B, but from my work, I deserved a C. She knows when you're diligent. There's some messed up students in her class though - they say she's a bad teacher but they're just bad students who want an easy A.

Pang Lao Shi is a great teacher who is extremely knowledgeable. People may say she's tough, but if you pay attention in class, you will notice that she does an amazing job teaching this difficult language. Hard class but she pushes you to become a better student. It's not the teacher who's difficult, it's the language.
