Comment:
Dr. Hendel is a good teacher with great knowledge of financial math. He knows what it takes to pass exam FM. Lectures can be made a bit confusing by his strange methods, but spend time at home and you will be fine. Tests require alot of studying and understanding concepts, wording of problems, and formulas. He is always there to help students also.

Comment:
If I were rating Dr. Hendel solely based on what he does in class, I would probably give him a rating of 2. His lectures are confusing and require lots of time outside of class to understand. However, if you utilize his knowledge outside of class, he is one of the biggest helps you will ever find, especially when studying for the FM Exam.

Hendel is very knowledgeable about this course and he is very understanding and willing to help you with anything. This course isn't hard math-wise, but rather understanding the finance parts is the most challenging. There are 5 tests each that I studied at least 20 hours for (because I am studying to be an actuary). You will need to STUDY to pass.

It's a hard class, but his teaching methods make everything so much easier than the way the book teaches it. He's kind of funny and is ALWAYS willing to help, lots of office hours and helps you study for actuarial exams. If you work hard you will get a good grade in the class. I would take him again.

Great professor. He is the only 312 professor, so I had to take him. He is sometimes unclear but overall very hepful. The material is tough so try to read before attending the class or you will not have a clue. Gives extra credit and goes over past actuarial exams which is very helpful

I didn't like him at first, but he turned out to be a pretty nice guy! Homework seems awful in the beginning and you'll never understand his grading for it, but in the end it really does help you out! I recommend taking him.

one of the nicest professors i've ever met. gives partial credit on every test as long as you write something. gives homework but only to help your grade and it only takes about 15 min to do and it will only be one problem. rambles on during class and gets off topic so just tune it out. i recomend him fully for this class!

He only uses the books for problems, instead he thinks he can teach it better than the book which makes it very confusing when you study.

Not a hard class at all. Missed about one class a week for a MWF and got a B in the class. He's a little quirky and he rambles about nothing but all in all he's a pretty easy teacher. Homework due almost every class but it doesn't take more than 15 minutes tops. You learn things like slopes and matrices. Good class for gened.

Extremely fair, extremely helpful if you ask, excellent teaching methods - shows you how to think for yourself and focuses on how to model the problems. Genuinely cares about the students and wants them to succeed. I wish he could teach all my classes.

If you have a chance to take another class GET OUT NOW!!! This man is unclear. He will help you if you need help however, when he helps you it's the same as his teaching skills. A tutor probably will not help. My advice DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR EVER!
