Comment:
This class is not easy. You need study and actually learn the material in order to get the grade you want. With that said, don't listen to the other reviews about how terrible Dr Suh is. He CARES, something few professors do at AU. Is he tough? Yes. Is he fair and willing to help? YES. If you are willing to work, take this class, and learn from him

Comment:
This is the worst teacher that I've ever had. His tests are unnecessarily difficult. He complains about Auburn, the university, and the faculty in nearly every lecture. Basically, he has no relevance in the scientific community and is angry about it. I can't warn you enough to stay away from this class.

Very difficult course but Dr. Suh is fair in his grading and testing. If you study hard and go to class you can do good in this course. He wants students to ask questions and be involved. People complain and do bad in his class but they do not put forth the necessary effort.

Despite what he tells you at the beginning, he is a bitter and arrogant professor. His lectures were unhelpful and you must know everything inside and out about the material to even barely pass his exams, would not recommend taking unless you had to.

Comment:
Lectures are terrible--I think he had a bad semester. He's terribly off-putting in class and friendly, human, helpful, and a resource outside of class. Definitely graduate-school level stuff--his tests are for real people, not freshies! Personally I appreciate that, even if it does bring down your GPA or whatever. In the end I didn't learn much.

Despite what some say, Dr. Suh is a great teacher. If he acts funny it's just to lighten the mood. The material itself is complex, but he wants you to think critically. Practically begs you to come to him if you need help. The test material comes fro the notes, but you have to understand the material. Truly an asset to the molecular department.

He reads straight from the powerpoint, but go to lecture because he does mention things that will be on the exam. Terrible teacher, but very knowledgeable and will take time to help. Tests are nearly impossible. Don't memorize facts. You must understand how the material can be applied to real situations. Most challenging class I've had in college.

Comment:
He's arrogant about his knowledge and how good of a scientist he is. And he deserves to be because of the education and training he has received. Dr. Suh is a huge wealth of biological knowledge! His class covers information to the SR/Grad level class which for some is too much. If you can't handle his class, then you can't handle grad school.

His tests are no joke, and ranges from memorizing details to designing an experiment. Make sure to go to class. A lot of his test stuff are from material he writes on the board and not what he posts online.

First off, very tough subject. Very in depth subject. Lots of material. He is a little rough at teaching it, but the material is tough. His tests are wicked, as he strives for more than just memorization for them. Studying old tests helps. Final was not old tests. Can be funny in a nerdy kind of way. His curves are quite questionable.

Difficult class but definitely worth taking if you're interested in acutally learning. His exams are no joke and definitely beastly but it really helps you learn critically in the long run and if you're into lab work & research. However, if you're just in it for the ride... drop it... you really need to enjoy the matierial to pass this class.

Tough material that is made much simpler if you go to class, read the book when confused, and study more than the night before the test. He expects you to know basic biology, but in a senior level/graduate class, is that really too much to ask?

Dr. Suh, while knowledgeable of the material, is a professor who should definitely be avoided. Rants which are completely off-topic are commonplace in this class, and it is apparent that the grading is based on how much the professor likes you.

Where to begin. I suppose if you are some sort of philosphy or poli sci major in disguise, you should take this class as it is at times more about the professor's views about those subjects than actual science. Dr. Suh, while smart, is so full of himself that at times it can be hard to fit in the same room as his ego. Beware!

Comment:
the material is really hard and you have to know it backwards and forwards if you want to do good on the tests. I really didn't think Dr. Suh was a bad teacher and all that stuff about him being mean or arrogant is just ridiculous. Its just a hard class and he really does want everyone to do well - his expetations are just a little high
