Prof. Doran is a real hardo, but she really means well for her students and is great at her job. I legit learned more from her class than I thought I would and she actually made me want to be a finance major!

If you need a Finance class at Georgetown, taking Professor Doran is the move. She's been teaching the material for years, and really has it down to a fine science. Very clear grading criteria and very no-nonsense. Don't you dare ask her a question that you could Google.

If you need an inspirational lecturer, find someone else because Prof Doran will rip your soul out. She never cracked a smile all semester. She is very knowledgeable about Finance but it seemed every student was intimidated by her. Not friendly or approachable at all.

I've taken her for BFM and AFM, and Prof Doran is consistently a great instructor. Hers are never "easy" classes, and she makes you work for your grade, but the courses are very structured and very fair. She really knows her stuff.

Stellar class. Finally a finance class that goes beyond the textbook. Maintains the general direction of the book while focusing in on more usable concepts. Keeps the content relevant, and is fair and balanced when it comes to grading. Her lectures are extensive and her real world experiences complement the content well.

I took Prof Doran for a first-year seminar. We learned a ton about our course topic, but there was a lot of readings assigned and a ton of assignments. Four "short" papers, four quizzes, and a 10-15 page final. Talking in class is important and attendance is required. Prof Doran is VERY serious and pretty strict, but incredibly knowledgeable.

Prof Doran is the best MSB professor I've ever had. She obviously knows her stuff and teaches it in a clear, straightforward manner. Grading is very fair, follows the syllabus exactly, and she did give 1 EC opportunity. Definitely not an easy class or easy A, but I learned a ton and hope to have her as a prof again. If you can take her for AFM, do!

AFM isn't too bad of a class, if you're a finance major. Doran can be intimidating and unapproachable, but ultimately wants you to do your best and learn as much as possible. Grading is very fair, you get what you deserve 100%; and participation only adds to your grade. Cold calls in class.

One of the best professors at Georgetown. Lectures are clear and concise. The second half of the class is new material so it is important to stay on top of reading, but the material is not overly complicated. Probably the most I have learned in one semester.

Exams are actually very fair and relatively straightforward. Just read the textbook and do the problems alongside class lectures. She moves extremely quickly which is bad after the midterm since its all new material. Group cases will be the death of you. 4 group cases, 2 individual cases, 1 midterm, 1 final

Doran might be a good AFM professor, but GFMI is exceedingly boring. The class is basically how much can you memorize about financial markets but with an absurdly large array of materials. She allows a one sheet cheat sheet on the exam, and for your sake I hope you use it to the best of your ability. I didn't really learn anything, just terminlogy

Doran's hair is full of secrets. Besides her incredible, unmovable hair, Doran is a great professor. Lectures and expectations are very clear. Group projects will kill you in the class, and you'll have to work incredibly hard. Do your reading or risk public shaming. In all though, you will learn a ton. Definitely one of the best finance profs.

Take AFM with Doran. You learn SO much. Of course, it is a challenging class with a lot of work, but keep up and you will do fine. Make sure you have a great group for cases. Don't bother with the textbook. She isn't the most helpful during office hours, but she is so nice once you get to know her. Love Lynn!

Not an easy class, but Prof. Doran is by far one of the greatest professors at Georgetown. Thoroughly prepared, straight-forward and effective at teaching finance. No tricks or surprises, but not a class where you can slack. Always has office hours. Go through her slides and do problems in the book. Keep up with the material and you'll do fine.

While the course isn't an 'easy' A, Doran is far and away one of the most thorough and prepared professors I have had at Georgetown. She comes to each lecture prepared and is engaging in the material. Always willing to meet and help in and outside of class - if you attend lectures and read the text you'll learn quite a bit and do well.

Professor Doran is a really good professor - she actually won national recognition as a finance professor. She can be intimidating, but only in the sense that you should never show up to class without a calculator or your packet. You'll learn a lot but you have to study and the curve is competitive. She also holds a lot of helpful review sessions.

Comment:
Grading is completely arbitrary. She makes a good subject as dull, dated and dry as possible. Don't dare ask a question as she views it as a challenge. If you read the newspaper you'll know more than she does anyways. Useless...
