Not a good teacher. Taking him for second semester of Spanish. He goes through things way to fast, doesn't give you time to understand what is going on. On exam days, he teaches us things that are on the exam during the first half of class. He doesn't grade fairly, his exams are HARD, no study guides. He isn't helpful, and has attitude sometimes.

Ochoa is one of the most inspiring professors at MCC. He truly cares about his students and loves to teach. Can be vague and even gruff at times, but is also quite hilarious! He singles people out to ensure they learn and are not left behind. He cares a lot about grammatical details which are important to learning any language. Tough, but worth it!

He is not a good teacher. I wouldn't recomend him to anyone. His grading would be very fair if he could do it right. Several students this past semester had their grades processed wrong because he either forgot to add something or forgot to drop the lowest test score or both. He's hard to contact too. Never answers you back...EVER!!! DON'T TAKE HIM

He has been ok so far but that is mainly because I love the italian language. He truly gets on my nerves....His patience level is about a 0 out of 10 (Not Good). I was hoping to find a teacher who not only knows his stuff but is willing to work with his students. If you want a professor to be patient and understandable, don't take him.

Well, he's hard to understand when it comes to English because of his accent. And he goes very, very fast. If you don't know what to say he gets frustrated and delivers a lecture on how he emphasizes proper grammar and vocabulary and how you should too.

I loved this class. I thought Prof. Ochoa made the class a lot of fun. He likes to get involved with the students. Speaking is a big part of the class he likes his students to actually practice speaking the language, don't let that scare you away though it's a good class.

Ochoa is among the worst teachers i've ever had. For Italian, he is a headache at best and a nighmare otherwise. Each lecture is an anxiety attack, as his protocol is to single out students who are struggling and force them to speak, which slows the class down. Refuses to speak slow, despite beginer class, and accent is unintelligable. DO NOT TAKE!

Took 3 courses with him. If you show up, do your homework, and participate you'll get a good grade. The professor is animated, funny, and somewhat of a payaso. Good time. Inspired me to minor in Spanish.

Well where do i start. Great Person. Hard class. very unclear. Use of the book is critical. Tests are ok. Moves way to fast. do not recommend if you actually want to learn spanish. Basically i hope you already have a good foundation, he expects you to know all basic before entering his class.

Great guy...not as good a teacher. I've worked very hard this semester and am managing a C but what I've learned I've taught myself. He's VERY unclear and refuses to slow down. If you are taking him for a higher level language he might be okay. but for a 101 class, is a bit of a nightmare. He is uncapable of explaining things on a students level.

i graduated with a 4.0 and i'm having a very hard time in this class. i usually understand things right away but the way he teaches makes that difficult. he doesn't like answering questions and is hard to keep up with...its an ok class but not good if you cant commit to it.

He really expects you to learn the book at home, and gives you outside information in the classroom. I dont feel like i learned too much from going to his class and a lot of people stopped showing up.

If you come to class and do all the homework, you should do well. He gives credit for effort also. He is pretty reasonable and works with you. Learning a new language is not easy. You have to apply yourself and work a little harder. I did poorly on 1 or 2 tests and still managed to get a B.
