Shelly is a hilarious prof. Although he can be difficult to follow along with sometimes, he covers very specifically all the material that he covers in class. If you show up, pay attention, and do the homework, there is no reason anyone should not be able to achieve an A grade.

He reads off textbook slides and expects you to read the details on your own, but I didn't mind this because he would at least spend more time on quantitative analysis and discussing his real life examples which I felt was more valuable. The course isn't tough, but he challenges you to think deeper to really understand it all. He brings in candy!

You can tell Shelly is a VERY intelligent and dedicated prof based on his research/experience. I'm glad I got to attend one of his classes for this reason! I enjoyed when he shared his real life experiences in class and his silly jokes too! Sometimes he'd go off tangent and read off slides, but I left the class learning something new each time!

Profs teaching style is brutal. Doesn't take time to explain things and considers it all "common sense". He barely did any work on the white board which is essential for this course. He NEVER did any review for the midterm or the final while all the other profs did review.

His teaching technique is poor. He is not very helpful with questions. His technique of teaching really needs to be altered. He tells us to prepare for exams, does not cover a chapter and puts a question from the chapter. Poor professor, poor technique.

Shelly is the best prof I've had in my four years at Laurier. His teaching method is fair and he genuinely cares for his students. His description of the final was very accurate and was a fair representation of what we've learned.
