I love Professor Kasmir. She is a little bit eccentric, but she is really passionate about her work & success of her students. She takes the time to get to know her students & encourage their participation. She gives a ton of work, but she is very helpful and clear in her lessons. If you do your work, she will think you're great & you'll do well.

She makes you read an entire book every two weeks and since participation is graded she asks somewhat specific questions during class and expects that everyone has read the readings. Two papers and two exams. USE EXAMPLES FROM THE READINGS IN YOUR PAPER. She is mostly concerned that you did the reading than anything else. simple class overall tho,

Comment:

Professor Kasmir's class is not all that difficult but it does involve reading and participation. It is a good class that covers some interesting topics. Id recommend her class and quit whining about participation and work, its college, deal with it.

Way too into class participation. Makes the class form a circle like she's teaching preschoolers. She is condescending and will talk down to students on occasion. While she was supposed to be teaching cultural diversity she lectured about human suffering almost exclusively. She is unforgiving of lateness while she is often late to class herself.

I would never take this professor again. She looks down upon students and makes them feel inferior if they don't know something. Don't bother studying the books so much. She takes test info off her notes mostly. She is way too excited about anthropology.

the professor and i had a mutual hate for each other. i think it was b/c i had my own opinion that differed from hers on many occasions. when we read our papers to the class, everyone loved mine, yet she found tiny little errors that she turned into mountains. Not my favorite professor by any means. thank god i only had her for 3 weeks--> New Colg!

Not everyone liked her, but I thought she is a great teacher. So much that I'm taking another class of hers this semester. Clear. Interesting discussions (if you participate and do the readings). Great class. Will open your midns to many different cultures which you may have thought at first were to strange to learn about. Reading isnt a necesity, as long as you take very good notes from her lectures cuz she tells you pretty much everything in class that she wants in the test. 4 test, one after each book. no final or midterm.

She is a great professor. Grading is fair and tests are fairly easy. Pay attention and participate and she will love you. Reading is really optional as long as you can write somewhat on a topic. Papers are a little confusing on what she wants exactly but the grading is pretty fair

i THINK SHE'S MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR EVER!!!! EVEN THOUGH SHE GIVES A LOT OF READING, SHE BASICALLY GOES OVER IT IN CLASS. SHE SEEMS REALLY FASCINATED WITH WHAT SHE TEACHES AND SHE DEFINITELY IS OPENMINDED TO OTHER OPINIONS.SHE ONLY GAVE 2 FEILDWORK ASSIGNMENTS, A MIDTERM OF MULT. CHOICE AND SHORT ANSWER AND A FINAL. i dont know why people think she is bad for assigning readings, thats what this major is about just do your**** and you will be fine shes down to earth and doesnt require extradordinary work...its reading for every class (sometimes a lot) and a midterm and final thats it i thought she was great

She assigns the worst books and gives about 50 pages a day to read. You can pass the class if you pay attention to the lectures about the books but,she is all about class participation. She seems anti-american and will lecture you about how the Wari eating their dead and that fat arab chicks are only gross to us. You can BS a C in this class.
