Hardest professor taken thus far. Very unmindful of students and what they are going through with COVID. Tests impossible.

He truly is a good professor with a kind heart, he can seem like a grumpy old man here and there but honestly that is because he is not very good with technology and it frustrates him. Be patient with him and believe me you will see the good in him. It is a VERY work sheet heavy class, but if you get into a rythem youll be just fine.

Dr. Allard is one of the worst professors I have ever taken. When I started this class I was excited to learn more about nature however, the extreme amount of coursework given makes everything he says grueling to do. If you enjoy doing nothing other than Natural Disasters this is the class for you, but be prepared to fall behind in other classes.

He speeds through lectures & for a gen ed class, expects you to be a geosciences whiz. It was very tough material, lots of worksheets & quizzes. He skips slides very fast and it's difficult to absorb the information. Doesn't have an attendance policy but gets mad when people don't show up. Super paranoid about cheating. I had a 4.0 before this.

Allard was an okay professor. He can be funny sometimes, but most of the time it seemed like he was mad at his students. His lectures are very slow and boring but you need to pay attention to them because he has lecture quizzes. He assigns A LOT of online homework assignments that are easy but time-consuming. Be prepared for a lot of work.

Lecture can get very boring, he goes through slides WAY too fast and doesn't fully explain things. He can also be very cranky & constantly complains about absences (even though he doesn't require attendance), and people packing their things up to leave before he's done talking. This class was NOTHING like what I expected - I'd never take him again.

Just don't take him if you don't have to. For someone that isn't good at science, this was not an easy class. Even if you are good at science just don't take the class. There are other options. Nice guy outside of class but in class.. I don't recommend.

Sometimes a funny guy but other times he is crabby. Attendance is not required but it is worth it to go. Lots of reading and quizzes online but those boost your grade. Most labs are horrible cuz they will take you longer than the class time to finish. Could be better could be worse. Overall, easy A class to take for lab if you put in minimal effort

I would take him again for sure. at the beginning of his natural disasters class, I was going to drop because I was so worried about not passing with a good grade but, as the year goes on he adds in so many bonus points and also a bunch of quizzes that can boost your grade A LOT! also he has a bunch of dad jokes which is a plus

Prof Allard is an interesting man. When he is having a good day, his lectures are amazing-but that rarely happens. There is a lot of homework and online quizzes, but they are not to hard. Tests are very easy with extra credit and you get a note sheet. Lectures are boring, but Allard tends to call people out in class, so thats fun I guess.

Dr. Allard is a character, he makes lectures interesting. There are a lot of quizzes and worksheets, if you keep up with all the work then you should be fine. Labs are easy show-up and finish the lab. Most of the material is covered during lecture, some is covered in the book.

Not an easy gen ed, tons of busy work (Online quizes and homework). Lectures are very boring and never lets out early. Super paranoid of cheating. Easy to get A but class will drive you insane

His lecture class isn't too bad.. lot of at home quizzes (answers online) but gives extra credit. I would not recommend taking his lab, though. He doesn't teach anything in lab and just expects you to figure it out on your own. He is very unapproachable and makes you feel stupid for not knowing something. Take a different lab if you can.

Allard seems a bit unorganized at times, and his lectures are either very dry or very interesting. A textbook change made this class a bit more work than what most of the class believed, but Allard had lots of study guides that help. I passed with a B using half the effort of my peers receiving an A so it's not the worst.

I took Natural Disasters with lab thinking it would be easy and interesting. I was very wrong. Prior to lab each week you get a long pre-lab, once actually in lab you get a thick packet that he doesn't give any instruction on. I owe my life to the TA's in this class. You have to know a lot for the tests, but you can also use a 1 pg cheat sheet.

I took Natural Disasters and it was difficult. You want to be ready to have a lot of quizzes as homework, reading and even quizzes during the beginning of lecture. Test are difficult and require high attendance to lecture and lots of studying succeed. Also, you should constantly be checking d2l everyday for quizzes put up so you don't miss them.

I took Natural Disasters with Professor Allard and it was not what I was expecting. I thought that this general education science class wouldn't be too difficult but I was wrong. It ended up being my hardest class for the semester. The lectures are long and boring. We learned more about earth science than natural disasters.

Most people that I know didn't like Dr. Allard. But in my opinion, he was a good teacher, as long as you paid attention in his lectures and you studied for the tests, you would be fine. Attendance is not mandatory, but it would be hard to get a decent grade without going to the lectures. If you do the homework and pay attention, you will be fine.

GEOS 103 Natural Hazards. I enjoyed the class. Everything was easy to understand and interesting. Most everything is online, but there are still assignments that need to be handed in during class or to his office. Lots of quizzes and they all have extra credit. Every few class periods he would go on a 5 minute rant about people not paying attention
