Dr. Hooten was a great professor. This is an easy A if you put in the time. I took this class online and did really well. Learned more than I wanted. Labs can be a bit tough but he was easy to reach for help through canvas. I will be taking PHYS1404 next semester.

Comment:

This was by far the hardest class I have taken online. However, his instructions are very clear, and he tries to make it enjoyable. It is not impossible to make an A, but you can expect to spend 6+ hours a week on the class. He does not offer any extra credit. The exams are weighted heavily, and he assigns a lot of assignments.

i liked dr t alot but this class kicked my butt. i accidentally took the 8wk online course, i dont recommend it. it was so much work & so hard. no extra credit & no real way to study for exams bc the guide was to general. loved the content tho, just prepare to give it all you got! this class is no joke. i finished with an A but still don't know how

He is very clear about instructions with his online class and easy to contact should you still be confused. He has a lot of weekly assignments, but if you complete them you can pass without stressing too much over the exams. He's very passionate and I felt like I learned a lot from him despite it being an online class.

Dr. Hooten himself is good, you can tell he enjoys what he teaches. HOWEVER, the class is one of the hardest classes ive taken and eventually had to drop because i was failing. If you dont get the concept then youll fail. His assistant graded differently than how he explained and I often had to message him to change my grade.

He is a very thorough type. He definitely knows his stuff. The class is the biggest pain to keep up with because you really have to think to be able to understand the concepts of physics if it is not your thing, but you can learn so much. If you do everything to the T how he says, you can pass and even make a decent grade.

Dr. Hooten's online course was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made regarding course selection. He requires/recommends that you spend at LEAST 6 hours a day on his /online/ course. As a full time employee who takes online classes to minimize time, this was a joke. I would not recommend his online course to anyone.

Oh Dr. Hooten! He is a good professor. Quite helpful if you actually ask for help. Don't be surprised by his sarcastic humor. If you show up to class, do the hw and show him that you are very interested in learning and passing the course, then you should be fine. There is a semester project that will make you want to pull your hair out.

Read. Do not fall behind. Expect to spend at least 5 hours on this course every week. This is a lab class, so there is more work than a 3 credit hour course. I wouldn't recommend taking this course along side any other lab classes. I make mostly A's and some B's, typically. In this class... my 79.8 was rounded to an 80.

Don't skip too many classes, because you'll fall behind. Mr. Hooten definitely knows his stuff and throws out a lot of info. Prepare to study hard, and pull your hair out because the test are tough. At the end of the day he is a great instructor, and grades a bit on a curve, but don't count on that. Personally I thought it was easier than PHYS 2425

I took Hooten's online Phys. Solar Systems class. He warns in the syllabus that you better have the time to dedicate to his class. He WAS NOT JOKING. If you don't have AT LEAST one 6-10 hour day a week to take this class then don't bother. Overall, I think it is worth it rather than having to go to a class & lab twice or a week.

This course was very interesting to me personally. Most people find this class very hard, however, if person finds it interesting, this course will not get tougher than PHYS2425 (Mechanics). Dr. Tom Hooten is very helpful and he is A TRUE TEACHER. P.S. Today was the last day of this semester. I already miss Dr. Hooten and his class *-* :D

i took online astronomy. it is very well organized but there is about 6-10 hours of work each week. it is not a hard class if you are interested in the class, but like any other online class, you must keep up because it is easy to get behind.

If you're not a nursung major than this is the science class to take, but manage your time in both the online and classroom classes. Once you complete your online homework bring back your book and just study your online tests or your online homework and you'll make a B or better.
