He grades 40% for your midterm, 40% for your final, 20% participation and HW. The second western CIV class is only available online. Considering Prof. Morse doesn't use email or anything - this course is all on you. It's not hard but you read a lot, 26 chapters. He gives summaries so nobody bothers to read the book.

Professor Morse is hilarious! Not the best teacher, he goes on and on about topics. He does not have the best hygiene but is very nice and caring . He is also funny he talks in accents and I cant help but laugh. Overall I recommend his class he is an easy grader. Just read the study guides.

Professor Morse is a great guy, he does a lot of club activities and wants students to join. DO NOT waste time buying the book, you will not only save money but you will learn everything you need to know from the study guides, or Google. As long as you pay attention, take notes, and do assignments when they are due, you will be okay.

Worst prof I've ever had. He mumbles through his lectures and is incredible boring, poor hygiene, I've witnessed him not wash his hands after using the bathroom, no assignments/test dates on the syllabus, forced us to see economist Larry Summers speak despite the fact this is a WESTERN CIV class. Avoid this teacher at all cost.

Prof Morse definitely knows his stuff. I understand some people find him boring during lecture, but everything he says will be on the exams so pay attention. Exams are based on study guides and notes. I didn't really study the book and ended up acing everything because I focused on those things. He even tells you some things that will be on exams.

He teaches by lecture and handing out study guide's only, so you need to take notes and read the textbook in order to pass. He will assign a paper every so often and you will get a check mark for doing it. He uses blue books for tests and quiz's meaning you have to hand write it. Blackboard is not used. Not much effort is put into teaching.

Comment:
Taking class with professor Morse was torture. He is dispassionate about history, and clearly has told the same story too many times to care anymore. He puts 40% on your mid term, 40% on your final so any work in class or Homework is useless. I wish I didn't take this class. He doesn't care, doesn't use his email and simply lost his passion.

Mr. Morse really knows what he's talking about. His lectures are boring and heavy. Don't buy the book, honestly not needed. I didn't use the book once the entire semester. The great thing about this class is that he really cares and is really nice. Easy A. Doesn't give out "minus" grades. He gives detailed study guides, and not many tests.

I loved Mr. Morse. He lectures most of the time, but he really knows what he's talking about and he's very interesting. People told me not to buy the book and they were right, his study guides and lectures are so detailed I have a 99 in the class. He is so knowledgeable, absolute great teacher and better person.

I took two classes from Mr. Morse, and they were my favorite classes at NECC. He lectures about 99% of the class, but he is very knowledgeable, and keeps it interesting. He gives you study guides that outline the major points of his lectures. Very tough grader, but he is fair. I got A's in his classes, but he still had criticisms for my essays.

He expects a lot of his students. He talks all class, says you need to read chapters but you really dont need to because he hands out study sheets. He assigns papers for "checks" but if you don't put a lot of effort and detail he will comment up. He also takes a lot off for details on tests/quizzes. make sure you know your stuff

This was my 2nd class taken with Professor Morse, and I would highly recommend him. His coursework is straight-forward, he assigns essays that are relevant to the midterm/finals, and he is very knowledgeable. Professor Morse is very involved with different clubs on campus, and is heavily invested in the well being of students.

Professor Morse is an extremely educated individual. He knows his stuff for sure. He gives you essays in advance to what you will be tested on, also in the same essay form. If you study his handouts, you will do well. He gives you all the information, but what a student does with it is up to them, because he gives you the info. He rocks.

He is literally the best professor I have had.. Sure he lectures the whole time, but he is super good, seriously knows what he is talking about.. I literally keep taking History classes I don't necessarily need just so I can keep taking his class! If you do well on the tests, you're good.. Study up a bit before time. He's so good.. Take his class!!

Prof. Morse is one of those profs that are undervalued. Some students expect a teacher to just stand there and write notes on the board telling the class EXACTLY what is on the test-grow up. HE IS BRILLIANT and one of the best storytellers. If you seek him out, he will tell you what he's looking for you to know exactly, but LISTEN to him.

Prof. Morse is extremely knowledgeable and actually pretty brilliant. He's pleasant and is a really great story teller; he tells history so naturally and has an interesting manner about it. Never stirs the pot, is non-abrasive.He's really helpful in demeanor and uses handouts to streamline his in-depth lectures.

Great guy, great class. I almost don't want to graduate so I can take more of his classes. I learned so much in this class and actually became interested in history. Only two exams for the semester but they are draining because its essay style. Luckily, the study sheets reflect the exams very well but you'll still need to study hard. Great lectures
