Grade based on webwork hw, a weekly quiz, and a final. The quizzes are one question each and are directly from the weeks textbook homework (which isnt graded.) Make sure to do the homework and ask your TA for help when needed. Class is curved by a lot.

Schilling's grading criteria are excellent. Non-mandatory lectures (I found her to be a little redundant), weekly one-question quizzes taken EXACTLY from the assigned chapter problems, no midterms, and WebWork HW for each unit, due together at the end of the quarter. Final is ten questions. Great for people who like to do their work themselves.

Dr. Schilling is a kind person, but her classroom setting was a little hard to deal with at times. I don't mind the fact that she regurgitates the book, what was annoying is that the book is terrible! You will be teaching yourself the material most of the time. However, I did learn a lot. I'd take another class with her, as long as the book is good.

It seems like there is a dichotomy here when it comes to commenting on her lecture. I have no idea about her teaching lower division class, but her class on Modern Algebra sucks. She couldn't care less about how well you learn and just keeps droning on and on. She typically looks down on students when being asked question during OH.

Surprised she did the hardest final exam grade went down from an A to a B ... she probably made it hard because apparently the midterm score was "high" which was 68 and the final average was 49. Besides that, at her lectures she just reads of the slides and doesn't explain anyhing will... here quizes are easy based on the homework.

Professor Schilling was a great first Calculus teacher. I have never taken calculus before and was grateful for her class. She taught concepts clearly, using both examples and many proofs. Each week there is a quiz that is directly from the homework. The midterms and finals were both very similar to the practice exams. An overall great professor.

She is an amazing teacher, she explains everything in great detail and she is very nice as well. It obviously is higher math, so it will be difficult if you do not study, but if you do it will be an easy A. Moreover, getting an A in the class will not be difficult as the workload and grading is distributed fairly well across the quarter.

I already took MAT21A (Calculus AB), so I knew the material and slept through class most of the time. Professor explained and showed proofs. Presentations are uploaded online for self study. Answers your questions perfectly! Quizzes are in the discussion sessions and are mostly easy because they are exact copies of homework questions from the book.

C in this class without going lecture for 5 weeks, going to one discussion, doing 1/2 the suggested homework, and doing the practice exams she uploads. The 2 practice midterms are extremely similar to the actual midterms. Do them multiple times. Ex: If asked for a def of VA on practice exam, then HA on test. My experience, go to tutoring to pass.

The tests are pretty hard. She sometimes tells you what will be on the tests which makes them more bearable but they still require you to really know the material. She really likes you to know proofs and theoroms. Go to her office hours if you are confused, she is nice and very helpful. She does a good curve. Got a 71% in the class, curved to a B.

I took calculus in high school but had a really hard time in this class- she explained the theorems in a difficult way that was hard for me to understand and my TA was just as bad. The first midterm brought me down but after some self-teaching I did well on the second midterm. Still didn't pass the class though, the final was brutal.

The first two midterms were easy but the final was relatively difficult. The assigned homework isn't collected but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. Do the homework, and understand especially the more difficult HW problems, know the main theorems and you will most likely pass!

Best mat21 professor ever. Everyone else who complained about her clearly hasn't taken any other mat21 classes before. Her expectations are clear. Literally tells you what's going to be on the midterm days in advance. Midterm are easy is you actually DO THE HOMEWORK. Felt fully prepared for every midterm and got an A. 10/10 would take again.

Anne Schilling is my favorite professor that I have had so far at UCD. She is a wonderful lecturer and is always enthusiastic about the material being taught. The lectures are very well organized. She is really compassionate and cares for her students. If you are a math major I really recommend her, if you aren't, I still do, cause she is awesome!

Classes are boring and unhelpful. Just mindlessly reading us the book basically. Class is fairly easy and it's organized, just lectures are unhelpful.

One of the best professors I have had at Davis. Professor explains the topics very well in lecture. Homework is very helpful in understanding the concepts. Tests are very fair and if you do all the homework and attend lecture everyday should not be difficult.

This proffesor teaches straight out of the book. Try to get another professor fisrt but if you cant be ready to read your book. She offers a descent curve though at the end of the course. Curve is at around a C

Prof. Schilling's class has not helped me learn calculus. She teaches STRAIGHT from the book (doesn't even change numbers on examples) and does next to nothing to reinforce concepts. Midterms and quizzes aren't bad if you understand the material in time. Curve is about a B.
