Comment:
Siegel's Crim class was by FAR the most challenging course I took 1L year. He cold-calls every class, and tends to call on the same people multiple classes in a row. If you can volunteer answers in his class, definitely do it- he is far less likely to cold-call you if he sees you're participating. Make sure to analyze both sides on his exam!

I had him for criminal law and loved him. He's a tough professor which will be evident within the first couple minutes of class. He excepts you to be more an adequately prepared, if you're not you'll be lost. He cold calls every class and tends to have some favorites. Overall, a great professor if you put the work in.

One of the hardest law professors in Massachusetts. Even employers shudder when they hear of his name but in a good way. Very passionate and incredibly knowledgeable of Criminal Law - he contributed to the Evidence regulations for Massachusetts. Overall, you will not regret having him as your professor. He's very smart and has a great smile! HOT!

Siegel is wonderful. If all my law profs were like him, I would be chomping at the bit to get out into the profession. Prof. Siegel successfully uses real-world examples and incorporates multi media in ways that are not distracting or amateur, but helpful and exciting. Dude needs to be cloned.

Siegel will make you into a lawyer. Personally a great guy, but tough on you in order to prepare you to advocate in front of a judge. IF you want to know Evidence and be a proficient attorney bust your butt in his class. Final fact pattern had little to grab onto, you had to be creative. The finest steel goes through the hottest fire.

One of the best professors I have ever had. If you want to learn evidence - take him. If you want a professor who is dedicated to turning you into a lawyer - take him. If you want to slack off . . . why are you in law school?

Wow, some people refuse to admit their own limitations. Listen, if you slack off Seigel will catch you. Work hard and he'll be the best prof you've ever had. He can be dismissive but its not meant to be rude--its meant to move the class along. Don't take it personally. Hint: He tends not to cold call those who frequently volunteer.

I loved Siegel for crim law and evidence. He is very tough but you learn so much and it keeps students alert in class. I dont love him as much for criminal procedure. I would still recommend but much of the class is more theoretical and less practical. Also, we are jumping around and sometimes it is hard to follow where we are.

In the beginning, he comes off as a difficult person. Often times it seems like he's just rewording the same question. But over time, your thinking actually does change and you learn to think more clearly and thoroughly. And he's fabulous to talk to outside of class.

Very rude to students. Has a grasp on the material--but, if you enjoy teachers who teach is a nice manner DO NOT TAKE HIM! He will make everyone in the class want to cry. Picks on the same kids in class and grills them so get on his good side and raise your hand before he gets to call on you!

Berates students in class. If you ask him to rephrase the question, he just raises his voice. Picks on the same students everyday in class and pretty much humiliates them. Instead of creating the feeling of a positive teaching environment, he makes everyone feel like they don't belong there. Just awful!

Shouldn't be allowed to teach 1L's. He is extremely condescending and rude to his students. I cannot tell you the number of times he called on students and nearly made them cry. I understand the Socratic method, but there is no need to tell students that they're never going to succeed as a lawyer--especially when you're not even interested in Crim!

By far the most intimidating professor I've ever encountered, but has an incredible command of the subject and will leave you better prepared for the bar than any other professor. Be prepared for repeat cold-calls, make sure you know your stuff before class, pay attention to details in hypos and argue both sides of all issues. READ ALL ASSIGNMENTS!

THE most difficult exam I have ever taken! By far, one of the BEST professors ever. You'd better prepare for class and be able to think on your feet and out of the box. He's demanding and frightening but he knows his stuff and you will too if you stick with it. The negative raters just weren't prepared for the demands of law school.

Yikes. Skip as may classes as you can get away with, try not to listen. If you do attempt following this dolt, don't expect any questions to ever be answered. Much easier to learn evidence on your own.

I've taken several classes from him, and I still can't tell if he hates me or not. Still, I feel like I'm worth more as a lawyer for every minute I spend in his class. Take both evidence and clinical evidence from him if you can. He does tend to focus on crim law more, but the skills you'll learn transfer quite well.

Comment:
Avoid at all costs. Not that difficult to get a decent grade, but most classes are exercises in endless circular questions. If you must take him, do yourself a favor and don't listen to a single word he says. It is easier to teach yourself than to be polluted by his musings.
