Comment:
Professor Smith is sneakily one the best professors you will have at NESL. There is no denying that he is a curmudgeon and is at times outwardly offensive, but he has a process and if you buy in you will learn more about civil procedure and the practice of law than you could ever hope for....

I admire the man. The man who made millions & can sit back & demonstrate the bare minimum of what it takes to get by. But as a professor he's awful. Talked about shrooms & acid. Definitely trippin on somethin. If you dont "get" him you're screwed. And not many people do. Dont feel too bad if your grade in his class is lower than your other grades.

You either get him or dont. Dont expect a standard teach from the book professor. He is the savy lawyer you dont want to have going up against you in court. Brings some excellent practical epplication to a notoriously boring course regardless of professor. He is willing to the extra mile to talk with you and go over material outside of class.

Here is the Scoop on Smith. 1. Did you do the reading? This includes the notes? 2. Did you brief the cases…all of them? 3. Did you take it on yourself to look up the supplements when you didn’t understand a concept? 4. Or did you go in expecting him to teach it all to you and rely on those of us who talked to carry the class, since no cold calls?

Wow - truly the worst product of tenure. Unprepared, disrespectful, and utterly lazy. Gets his own exam questions wrong. Treats precious time like its story time for his good ole lawyering days. Abysmal

Cocky, rude and lazy. Good luck getting a copy of your exam from him. Also, he does not even provide comments on what you did wrong. How is one to learn?

Worst class of 1L (even though I got a B+). This guy 50 multiple choice questions as our mid-year exam in Dec and then gave us a letter grade for the exam in Jan without giving us the answers to the exam or even letting us know how many questions we got right/wrong. He is lazy and does not care whether his students learned anything or not.

Wish I could get a refund on this one. As a section I think we got absolutely scammed out of a highly bar tested course. He is a terrible human being and teacher. If you have him start teaching yourself for his ridiculously cumbersome exams.

Don't ever take Smith for any class. He's awful. He has no teaching style; he just walks into class & rants. He hates teaching & students, & it shows. He's rude to students. All this I could handle, if he actually taught well. Everything I know, I taught myself. His exams are poorly written and often have no correct answer. NEVER TAKE SMITH.

What an awful professor. He is content to do the absolute minimum, always. He tells irrelevant stories instead of teaching. Everything I know about Civil Procedure, I taught myself. Cocky, disrespectful, & rude to students. I would NEVER take him again, for any class. He hates teaching and hates students, and it shows. Avoid Smith like the plague.

In my personal opinion this guy is an absolutely horrendous professor! Save yourself the time, energy and trouble and do not take him for any class ever! I cannot even begin to comprehend his teaching style. Everything I have learned Civil Procedure I have learned myself. I will personally never take a class with this guy again.

Took Smith for Modern Real Estate Transactions. He prefers to lecture rather than use the Socratic Method, but is a stickler for attendance. Overall a good prof, but keep up on the reading - not for getting called on, but you'll be doing a lot of self-teaching. All in all, worth taking.

Way out of touch with reality. Teaches you how to be a bottom feeder. LPM course is about ow to make some $ w/o becoming a real lawyer.

Comment:
The administration suggests taking this class as a review for property law. perhaps this course serves as a review with other professor but NOT with Smith. I have no idea what this class is about, the rule of law in the cases seems irrelevant to the class and I have NO CLUE what I am supposed to extract from lecture.
