Comment:
Professor Yamada is a great professor with an exceptional sense of humor. Probably the best at Suffolk. His sense of humor enables him to engage the classroom to discuss uncomfortable subjects. I always looked forward to Professor Yamada's class because his combined wisdom about the law and life went beyond what any textbook could ever teach me.

There is one paper and a take home exam. The comments about there being too much work are just not true. You are only on call for one case for one class. Great lecturer, genuinely pationate about the subject and invlolved outside of class. He knows his stuff. Take this class for employment.

Great professor. Made the lectures interesting and made each student responsible for one case throughout the whole semester. There was a little too much work for a three credit class, a paper and a take home final.

Class was ok - not good/not bad. 10 page paper that won't help your legal writing at all and a pretty basic 10 page take home. Class is manageable. He doesn't seem to care if you go to class or not. A good grade is very possible.

Nice enough guy. Obscene amount of work for a 3 credit course yet you learn nothing. He is in the stone-age and does not allow computers. Laughs about how out of touch with modern culture he is but you will not be laughing when you realize he is allergic to technology in any form. AVOID.

Comment:
This is a very sweet man and it is easy to see why he is so well-liked. But he dumbs down the class. Avoid if you have a real interest in the subject. Also, the class is very biased towards employee side law. A significant negative is that, although he seems low-key, there is way too much work for the course and he claims to give almost no A's.

Solid professor. His lectures are pretty clear. He assigns readings by student but its best to do all the readings. With a paper and a take home final the course ends up having a lot of work but he's a fair grader.

I loved his Public Interest Seminar. Lots of discussion but everyone is actually interested and not intimidated. Yamada cares what everyone has to say. Work hard on presentation and paper to get an A. Awesome professor.

Best teacher for employment law. He is very clear and gives take home (which is more conducive to emp. law) and is a fair grader. Good class discussion & interesting...definitely recommend.

Public Interest Seminar is a great class. A lot of discussion about current social topics. Very informative, something you'll look forward to going to and Yamada is just a great guy (so funny). Presentation on topic of your choice at end, low stress, but give it some effort for A.

Very knowledgeable and his humor keeps class light. Very respectful of student opinions during discussion. Not a lot of reading and assigns cases to students so you know when to be prepared to be called on. You need to put in time and effort on his take home exam to do well. Fair grader.

Learned a lot from Yamada. Very smart and a great guy. Don't let his easy going nature in class fool you, if you don't prepare well for his exam and know the material you will end up with a c/c-. Be ready. And if you have a chance, stop by his office. Its one of those things you can't put into words.
