I've had 3 classes with this professor and she is a very tough grader. I enjoy the material a lot and she is very knowledgeable, but the way she teaches it is very hard. Its ALL lecture, she goes fast, rarely repeats things, so you have to take notes fast. Her tests don't always match the material taught. I try my hardest to avoid her classes.

This was my second class with Prof. Boumgarden and it went well once again. Being a 5 week course there was a lot to cover, but it went well. In the end I left more aware of skills needed in the helping profession. Grading consisted of a paper, a midterm, an oral final and a written final. Be sure to read the book and go over class notes.

Prof. Boumgarden was very good. She brought her own perspective and experiences to the class and it really made the lectures interesting. Class consists mainly of tests, papers, and a group project. Be sure to go over notes and the book when studying and write clearly and carefully for the papers. Overall good experience.

She's a great professor and I learned a lot in her class. She is blunt and will say it like it is. There is a midterm and final with an oral exam. If you have a great group you will have no trouble with the oral. Take good notes and understand them. Don't forget to read the handouts

Professor Boumgarden was an excellent professor! I took two of her courses during my senior year at Benedictine. She inspired me to pursue a degree in clinical social work at Aurora University. I absolutely loved her classes and she is so funny. Awesome teacher! You will learn material that can be applied in real world settings!!

I do not recommend ever taking her class unless it is an absolute requirement and there is no other option. If that is the case, well good luck.

She's really funny and a blunt professor. You learn from her through her experiences. She is a picky grader but its not hard to get an A. Come to class and take notes. Her tests are somewhat hard and come straight from her notes and readings. If you pay attention it's a breeze.

Prof. Boumgarden is not going to make class easy for you but if want to learn you gotta work for it, A's do not come easy. I have had 7 classes with Prof. Boumgarden and learned a great deal from each class. Easy classes does not equal a learning environment. Slackers beware this is COLLEGE not High School course should not always be easy.

I had her for a few course and though she is tough and blunt, she is a great professor. Everything that I have learned in her courses has helped me in grad school. People complain about her grading but it's not meant to be easy. If you put in effort and work hard then it will be a good class. The tests are hard but study and you will be fine.

Took a graduate level psych class with her that had undergraduates & Senior citizens in class. She acted unethically by showing video of dying seniors that upset many older class members & did not follow-up with a debriefing. She berated the graduate students, was opinionated, & even abrasive at times. Class was a sociology class.

Boumgarden is a very, very nice person. As a professor though she is very tough and opinionated. She expects a lot from her students and grades harshly on papers. Her first exam is super hard, but the others are much easier. Take really good notes! Ask questions. Show you are engaged in her class. Be attentive and on time. She notices those things.

Shes pretty bad at teaching, repeats the same thing over and over, show up for the first few classes and then you pretty much have everything she will talk about for the rest of the semester. 2 tests are a joke, and the paper is an easy A as long as you emphasize samuleson's goals, and liberal healthcare policy.

Clinical Practicum: Although a very nice woman, her grading is out of control. She rewrites your paper the way she would have wrote it and even states that on the paper itself. She requires a book but we never open it yet she tests out of it randomly. She doesn't believe in giving A's out that's for sure. Very hard teacher.

this woman is the hardest grader ive ever met. i took practi****with her, and and only 1 person got an A on the midterm. if you're looking to maintain your GPA, do NOT take this class. her material is very abstract. shes the first teacher i took an oral final for. we had to watch a movie for her final, and write questions. do not take this teacher.

I have taken over four classes (Soc and Psych) with this professor and my experience with her has been exceptional. Though she sets the bar reasonably high for her students, she is always eager to assist. She is incredibly amiable and possesses a wonderful sense of humor. I adore her. :D
