Lectures are confusing but when explaining things one-on-one, she is very patient and breaks things down for better understanding. Reading ahead of class really helps but is not necessary. Most of class is spent on group work which is great if you all get along. It is clear she knows the content well and wants her students to succeed.

You can tell she is very knowledgeable but has a lot of difficulty communicating the material. Class time is spent waiting around and trying to figure out problems without any information. The lecture part is nonexistent. You have to solve everything yourself with the useless textbook. The final is atrocious and is loosely related to the material.

The scale up system had an akward set up consisting of poor lectures and disorganized labs. The teacher's accent didn't bother me, but the consant mumbling did. The only way to pass is to go to class everday and do the homework. Tests and quizzes are rough. If you don't want to work hard in this class, then I suggest you find someone else.

In this physics class, we were expected to learn everything on our own by reading ahead of time. Material read would then be presented in poorly structured labs, which were even more poorly instructed. I would not have passed from her instruction alone, despite showing up every day. Do not take her, or you will resent her and physics.

If you don't read you won't know what you're doing. None of the homework is gone over in-class so good luck if you don't know something. Tests are not what is covered in class, and don't use the formula sheets she gives. The only way to pass the class is to go to class everyday and do activites. Expect 50-60% on tests with NO curve. Goodluck.

Avoid this teacher at all costs. Heavy accent, mumbles into the microphone, does not discipline the class when they get loud (so you cannot hear her). The class+lab is roughly 3 hours long, and an hour of that will be sitting there doing nothing. She makes an already difficult class, more difficult. In scale up you get groups though. Still a joke

Honestly the worst teacher I have ever had. Incredibly worthless and frustrating. Scale-up is horrendous. Very hard to understand her. You are expected to learn everything from the book which is also bad at explaining things. Exams are horrible! Never really clear on what will be on the exams it is more of "everything from ch. x-y is fair game"...

Don't take her. You have to teach yourself everything and she is very hard to understand. The final was also very hard. She takes physics and makes it theoretical. No numbers. Half the time you don't even know what the question is asking and then when you ask her about it she says "it's right and her English is perfect". DONT TAKE HER

Dr. Luo was the worst professor I've had in my time at UCF. She mumbles during lecture along with her heavy accent makes the lectures impossible to comprehend. She does not properly prepare you for any quizzes and tests and expects you to teach yourself by reading the textbook. Also the final was extremely hard and nothing like our other tests.

A lot of people end up frustrated b/c of her accent and the scale up structure b/c it isn't a familiar then end up resenting her and disrespecting her and the course as well when they struggle. It's a shame. She's VERY nice, and there for you 150% as long as you reach out. Realize to struggle IS to learn! Don't resent her/class and you'll pass!

I learned everything for the course from reading the textbook. Her lectures are completely useless (when you can even understand what she's saying) and the labs are poorly structured. Her poor english even shows up on quizzes. Questions are regularly open to more than one interpretation where you have to guess what she means.

Very hard to understand, Teaches physics in the most abstract impractical way I have ever had the misfortune to experience and is horrible when it comes to accepting legitimate absences. Good luck if you have her for physics.

In this class the lecture and lab are combined, so yes, it will be long. I honestly learned a lot, although her english was not the greatest. You work in groups of 3, and every class you are working, so it's not really boring. If your group is cool, it'll be a fun class

If you do not have any previous understanding in physics, this is not the class for you. She simply throws the problems at you with no previous explanation. She's VERY hard to understand. The grammar on quizzes and tests is confusing. Group work is a must, and if you do not work well in groups or you're very shy, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!

I don't know if I put the right course number I took physics 1 for non-engineers with her. I wouldn't recommend her, if you pay attention and study a lot you'll get a good grade, but the lectures didn't really correspond to tests and a majority of the people in my class did not do well. I have no more science classes but I wouldn't take her again.
