I have had a lot of teachers at Columbia and he surpasses them all. He's smart, he's funny, he knows his stuff. Willing to help you in and out of the classroom and cares if you understand the curriculum as well as the industry. He knows his stuff and is an invaluable resource.

Rangel is officially tied with my (other) favorite professor. He cares about students' opinions and is very approachable and funny. As someone who hated public speaking he taught me to enjoy it. Take everyone's advice and sign up for his class(es) because he's the best example as to how cinema professors should be.

I FINALLY FEEL LIKE I'VE GOT MY MONEY'S WORTH!!! Best Screenwriting Teacher at Columbia. I've learned more in one class of his than I have throughout an entire semester with other Teachers. If you have the chance, TAKE HIM!

Very Knowledgeable on the film business. Will challenge you to come up with many ideas but you will be better for it. Easy going guy and is willing to help you. If you have the chance to take business of screenwriting with Rangel take it and you will come out the other side with a lot more prepared.

Comment:

One of the most helpful, knowledgeable, and fun teachers I have in three years at Columbia. Very strict on puntuality and deadlines. Very reasonable to circumstances that are unquestionable out of your control. Take his class if at al possible. Nice to have a teacher that actually works on his own movies. Which are actually very good.
