I was employed at MSL when it was still preparing for accreditation. I worked full-time in the front office, but it only took a few months for me to quit. I was appalled by Dean Velvel's daily, profanity-laced tantrums and verbal abuse of both students and staff. He may be accomplished but his childish outbursts and foul mouth were too much for me.

Did an independant study with this man and got to know him. I read many of his books and found him to be one of the most intelligent, well versed, polite and caring teachers. You've given him an unfair rap for having the courage to stand up for what America really needs. He is a brilliant man and his works are not for the intelletually weak.

Velvel is an egomaniac with a chip on his shoulder looking to garnish publicity; his failed, idiotic lawsuit against Nixon,his unsuccessful, wasteful lawsuit against the ABA, many of the pleadings which the Court found nearly incomprehensible & his witch trial of Bush. For all his failures, he could have put his time & money to better use.

Dean Velvel is an embarrassment to this institution and detracts from all the time and effort that both students and faculty put into making the education gained at the Massachusetts School of Law a value added experience. Not only is his behavior narcissistic but his ability to manage the processes at the school are just as dismal. Today is June 2

Comment:
The Dean's Course is basically a way to pay for his vacations. He just blew off the last session and most of what we did was mindless. But MSL is not about law, it's about television shows. Clearly he rules with an iron fist; nobody on the faculty has the guts to challenge him on anything.

Sadly, the Dean comes across as a very unhappy, not very nice, old guy. He's done a lot for MSL and for the students here, but it is hard to get close to him because he is like a porcupine. His wife (Ms. Rose) is a sweetheart.

Please take all of the resources that are poured into t.v. shows and use them towards the betterment of the curriculum. Even the website is a mess. Half the faculty bios are missing and the ones that are there are a mess. If I'm using the 'net to search for a school, your site won't impress me into further inquiry.
