Very confusing. Even going in to office hours did not help. I had to get private tutoring in order to pass the course. There was no order to the material, so reading the text did not even help. I would avoid him if you can.

Comment:
He comes across as very critical of backgrounds that he finds inconsistent with his theology. It is easy to clash with him, especially because he seems to prefer to challenge people's views rather than guide them to his views. He would be a great professor either if you agreed with most of what he believed or took a higher level course with him.

Husbands takes an approach that is so different and so refreshing! He is politically liberal and egalitarian, and it's so nice to see that in a theology professor at Wheaton. He is very eloquent and has a great accent.

Husbands flunked me with no warning. He has a huge ego and loves to hear himself speak. He should no evidence of caring for his students and if anything, he took out his frustrations on students outside of the Bible and Theology Dept.

His accent gives the impression that he is more intelligent than he is. Don't be deceived as I found him harmful to student's faiths.

You'll love the guy, even if you disagree with most of what he has to say. He's a good professor with some good viewpoints that are worth hearing, if only to shake up your own set of concepts about what it means to be Christian. And he has a wonderful accent.

He's really good. He'll make you love him, even if you agree with like 2% of what he says. He'll make time to talk to you and help you out.

Worthless class, entire course was based on three books without any connection between them. Only worthwhile part was reading Mark Noll's Scandal of the Evangelical Mind.

Comment:
Studied under John Webster - a quasi-Barthian evangelical. His basic dogmatics are orthodox and he explains the basics with great clarity. Some of the touchier issues - gender, ethics, etc. - he is less that consistent with his methodology. He is somewhat elitist.

Decent lecturer who acts like he thinks he knows it all. Definitely competent, but seems unsure of himself and sometimes intereacts with students awkwardly. Critical of both liberal and conservative theologians, he comes across as lukewarm himself.
