Comment:

Great class, friedly instructor. I took it online, I did think there were a lot of videos, but they were interesting and were about art. This is an art class people, and I thought that it was pretty good. I enjoyed the field trips and thought that Mr. Janick was very friendly, he was even friendly to my then 2 and 5year olds who came with me!

Comment:

I took this class online during the summer and I enjoyed it, it was pretty easy the test questions came from the text and the required videos. Mr. Janick was very helpful, not that much help was needed! The forums were good, although I didn't enjoy the videos, simply because there were so many and it was a fast paced course. Overall it was Good.

He's a very knowledgeable man ... I respect him 100%. However, due to his monotone voice, it is really hard to stay awake in class. Having said that, I would recommend this class because you will learn so much and furthermore, he's not the one that give out tests! Dr.Alan Haffa does so no worry at all!

Horrible teacher. Does not like questions, does not like discussion. Uses mainly videos, but the text is good, though I have not used it much. I recommend you do research in the library for his essays. Get the essays done well and you'll ace the class. Other than that, get another teacher if you can.

Comment:

Just finished the Art 1 online class and received my first C ever. The videos we were required to watch were very hard to comprehend and had poor sound quality. The class is based on two tests, which ask questions unrelated to art, but about various questions about where the artist or architect would study and who they worked with.

This is a man who has been teaching for so long, he has it down to a science. He stands resolute, lecturing with the force of a kick in the face. You can learn in your sleep; his words will find a way into your brain and haunt your dreams until you pay attention to them. If it wasn't poor form he would project notes into your head at twenty paces.

Good course! The instructor seems to be strict with a lot of things, but i learned a lot. To me that's all that matters. I paid for the course, and I invested time in learning what art is about. He provided those needs. I just wish he was more approachable. I realize that he is a very intelligent individual, but I just want a friendly professor. :)

Whether art is your major or not, this class proves very useful in intellectual conversations. The instructor seems to need a lot of loving because he projects a trajectory of someone who needs recognition and appreciation in a world of ungrateful students. Some of us slept, some ate, and some didn't care. I think deep within he cares about us.

Mr. Janick is a great professor. He really knows his stuff. If you are awake and you pay attention to the lessons, you will find that the questions on the test are ways to motivate you to read the textbook and learn about art in depth. The students who do not like him are those who do not pay attention or just take his class for granted. I like him

He is the worst teacher in the world! He doesn't care about his students, attendance was mandatory, but he always starts class late. The two field trips suck! Some of the questions on his tests weren't even about art. Never take any of his classes, for you will regret it the rest of the semester.

Please retire! Please!!! You have no passion in teaching. You have no interest in the welfare or the learning of your students, stay home and just watch tv or something. This was a waste of my tuition fees! Please retire for the sake of the future art majors who might lose interest in it as soon as they have you for a professor. Retire now! Please!

HORRIBLE teacher and i cant stress that enough. he knows his stuff but he HATES his students. NEVER ask a question or else he'll bark and scoff at you for your lack of brain cells. he HATES technology. turn your cell phones off. u just watch videos and slides. ridiculous teacher.

The class consisted of slides and documentaries, which makes sense in an architectural history class. DO NOT ASK ANY QUESTIONS DURING THE LECTURE, he will NOT stop. The only thing he stops his lecture for are the incredibly off subject and a little uncomfortable diatribes he goes off on. He's weird but the class is worth it just for the cool book.

He is eccentric and not nice at all, but if you actually pay attention to him and ignore his unattractive qualities you will find yourself interested in the topic. It is so easy it is not worth complaining, take the essay exams as opportunities to educate yourself. Use google books for research.

This guy used to be a wonderful teacher a long time ago but I beleve he has burned out. I really wish that he would update his material for the sake of the students but I guess it must be hard to get current stuff. I don't like how he insults the class and the poor housewife whom he compared to desperate housewives. but thats about it.

If you are interested in Art History, you will enjoy this extremely thorough class. Although, I do not recommend ever saying a word to Mr. Janick, he prefers the class to just listen (i.e. do not ever ask a question, he gets very flustered and irritable). Homework is almost non-existent except for three take home exam papers (easy!)

I watched all the videos which helped a lot. I didn't read the text, instead just searched it when the exam came. I got an A in the class and only missed a few questions. He really didn't get to me too much. He trys to come off as a jerk at the first meeting, but you shouldnt pay attention to that. Just do your work, show up, you'll be fine.
