I guess people from earlier comments got bad grades. (and lied on here, lol) Sean is a very good prof and really knows his stuff. He could ease off the unrelated anecdotes, but his class is good.

He's horrible. He talks big in class like he's the smartest man in the room but he often comes unprepared and will forget what the slides are about. The only reason I did good was because I love the subject and was willing to read on my own time. He did not help me at all and I was often more confused coming out of his class than I was going in.

He's arrogant and at times can be condescending. Ask the researchers in the faculty, they do their best to limit interactions with him. At best, he is medicore in a very tough subject matter. I am surprised to see a few evaluations rating him highly, it is probably the nerds that work for his lab.

All of the assignments were pretty tough. They are straight from the textbook. Would HIGHLY recommend buying a solutions guide. The midterms were pretty bad (1740 average on first, 2040 on second) but he gave a bonus assignment to help our marks. Lectures are all online, tutorials were sort of useful, and labs were a little stressful.

If you want to get a degree that says 'Scientivist' on it, you might not want to take his class. If however, you want to take a step towards actually understanding Science, and becoming a student who actually understands Physicschemistry(same thing really), He's the prof for you. But it's gonna hurt, reaaaaaaly bad.

He is very hard, His exams are always twisty and not straight forward. He always ask a question that depends on the whole chapter if not the whole course. If you memorize his notes you would get somewhere in the 60's if you memorize and understand you may reach an 80. I mean memorize each page and each word. His assignments are so irrelevant.

He is a very good prof but you need to study well for his midterms/tests. However, all his material comes from his lecture notes only but there is alot of information. Also, labs take up alot of time as well. Overall,if you spend time on this class you'll get the mark you want.

A very straightfoward professor, about as good as Carleton tends to get other than the occasional A-lister. I don't get what's with the music before class I think the guy just likes attention. "Emotional" is a professional way to put it, but I've heard people in high performance occupations tend to be a little edgy anyway. Jealous tendencies.

He is really wonderful, just a little bit emotional, such as when there were very few people attending the lecture, he would make the test harder...

this class is diffcult but with work its not so bad. i found sean to be a great prof he was interesting and made the material easier to understand then the text thats for sure. its always easier to blame the prof then yourself for doing poorly in a diffcult course - put the effort in and you'll be fine
